We were leading, there were more than 11 minutes lost in the game. If we somehow ended up losing, it wouldn't have been because of that hit.

Well, we know that DJ is the emotional leader of the defense. He brings it all to the field. These guys have had shit talked about them all season. They can read just lke the rest of us, and they know that they were not getting respected. I don't know that I would have been any different. However, keep in mind, DJ could have seriously injured Ellington if he wanted to, but the hit was clean. He was just letting Ellington know that Carolina's defense will no longer be disrepected.

Getting that penalty was a selfish move. Period. Taunting penalties are there for a reason, and it was unsportsmanlike for sure. For those who don't care for good sportsmanship, it was probably OK behavior, but I suspect the coaches will deal with it. I have been a fan of DJ since way before so many got onto his bandwagon because of his effort, hard work, and opportunistic play over three years. I still hate when any player gets a stupid, penalty. Accountability to your team should trump showing off.

IDK man, I'm all for sportsmanship, but football is an emotional game, even without the rivalry. DJ is an emotional player, and frankly, with as flat as our D was early in the game, I was glad to see some emotion later in the game when it counted. On one or two of the early sacks in the game, our guys basically laid Tajh down and walked away like it was no big deal. No intensity at all.

Honestly, we were controlling clemmons pretty well before that penalty, but if you go back and watch the game, we dominated from that point on. That ignited our guys and put the fear into clemmons. They had been having their way with opposing defenses all year long, and they finally met a team and a player that said, "Is that the best you've got? Bring it on!!!"

Clemmons didn't know how to man back up and just play their game. Showing emotion on defense is different than the showboating of an offense. A defense can play like world beaters simply on emotion and intimidation alone. I love it.
