Rumors that Big 10 Has Contacted UVA and UNC to Join

ACC would be in big trouble if so.

Just rumors thus far. Will be interesting to see if this is true.

I dont think they would, since they run the ACC anyway....

That would give them 15 if they jump who would be 16? Geographically and ideologically they don't fit just like Maryland Rutgers and for the most part Ped State. I think B1G I think midwest not east coast

I heard Tar Holes are claiming Slive contacted them about the USC. I expect the Hoos will be in contact with the Hokies tomorrow to gauge their interest in the SEC. No way the Virginia legislature lets one go without the other one being secure.

The Big 10 has already cherry picked the TV markets they want, DC and NJ/NYC. The only markets left in the acc are Charlotte, Boston, Miami and Atlanta, and no individual acc school owns those markets. I could see GT and/or BC leaving, but not UNC

It may not seem like a good move now, but in 2-3 years when there are four SUPER CONFERENCES, a lot of schools will look back and wish they had accepted that invitation to leave. The ACC is heading down the same road as the Big East. FSU and UNC will lead the rest of the conference into the pool.

Problem....UVA would have to agree to get NC. The B1G bylaws require contiguous attachement of member states...Plus, the Virginia Legislature would block this after all they went throught to get VT and UVA together.

I am sure VT and UVA could split up if they ensured the rivalry would remain and both teams had stability going forward.

Nebraska is directly to the west of Iowa (Big10), and the south border of Nebraska is on the same lattitude line as the middle of Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana (all Big10). Your argument would have made more sense regarding their addition of Rutgers.

I hope they get them then, we could then get nc state and va tech. Although, I'd rather take unc than state as they have a larger following being the state's flagship university.

Its called sheer distance. That'd be like, hey, lets add New Mexico. It touches Texas which has A&M, and its on the same lattitude as Tenn Arky and other SEC States. Would you want to be Nebraska having to fly to Penn, MI every week?

Eersauthority.com (whatever that is- guessing it's total bs) reports The Big 10 conference has received applications for membership from UVA, UNC, and Georgia Tech while FSU, Clemson, UNC, NC State and Virginia Tech have contacted the SEC about potential membership. Despite public statements to the contrary the Big 12 conference has been in close contact with FSU, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Miami about joining the Big 12.

FSU, Clemson, Miami, and VT or UVA to the Big 12 would be interesting though.
