USC is one of the top three right now for junior DB Marlon Humphrey of Hoover, AL according to Paul Strelow of 247Sports. Humphrey is the son of former Alabama star running back Bobby Humphrey and the Crimson Tide are believed to be the big leaders, but Humphrey said he also likes USC and Florida a great deal. Those three will be in his top five which he plans to announce after the season. He said Mississippi State is high on his list.

Right now I would say it is UA but you never know. I get the feeling his parents want him at UA and want him to commit early or the latest before his HS senior year. He wants to enjoy the process and make his own decision. I do believe he will visit UF and USC and give them both a fair shot at getting him. I do not think on his part it will be just to take trips. Again I think he ends up at UA, but his brother did leave the state and play for Arkansas, so who knows.

Humphrey was nearly as impressive in testing clocking a 4.48 40 at 5-foot-11 ¾ and 179-pounds. He added a 4.27 pro-agility shuttle, 6.76 L-cone and 32-inch vertical and was solid in one-on-one’s showing the ability to stay attached and react as well as any defensive back in attendance.

no matter if you think he is a bama lock, you have to give it to grady brown for giving us a really good chance. i think once we get him on campus, this will become a tight race

Alabama football bloodlines run deep. Pulling a major talent legacy recruit away from the Crimson Tide is nearly impossible. But USC is giving it the old college try. According to a story by Jeff Sentell of AL.com, Gamecock recruiter Grady Brown called DB Marlon Humphrey of Hoover, AL on Signing Day. Alabama head coach Nick Saban also called Humphrey, the son of former Alabama star running back Bobby Humphrey. The report stated USC and Alabama are the two favorites of Humphrey in the early going of his recruiting. Humphrey said his relationship with Brown is a major reason he likes USC. Humphrey is a two time 6A all state selection. He's also a track standout. Southern Cal, Florida and Mississippi State are some of his other offers.

Pulling a bama legacy from Hoover HS would go a long way towards saying how far the South Carolina football program has come....but this still has to be a fairly long shot. Do need some lock-down corners this cycle

Met Marlon's dad at George Rogers' golf tournament last year. Very nice, looks like he could still suit it up. I can't remember what he does for a living, but he has stayed pretty close to home and done well after his playing days ended. That that does not help our chances.

It's rare to find cornerbacks as well-versed and well-rounded as Humphrey coming out of high school. He has the size, speed, hips and football intelligence coveted at the position and his coverage and run support skills are of equal quality. He will also make the big play on special teams as a kick blocker or coverage guy.

We had a chance to see Humphrey at the Under Armour All-American Combine in January and he didn't disappoint. He is well-built at 6-feet, 179 pounds and he has superb linear speed to go with it. During one-on-ones, Humphrey was in trail technique a few times because of double moves, but he used his speed and quickness to recover nicely without getting beat.

Humphrey is the son of Alabama tailback and former Denver Broncos running back, Bobby Humphrey. His mother is an ex-college track standout and his brother played wide receiver at Arkansas.

When Humphrey was officially named a five-star, Hoover coach Josh Niblett told Rivals.com that what makes him special is his ability to understand route concepts and playing with the proper technique. In addition to his mental makeup, he is also a special teams asset in the return game or blocking kicks.

Humphrey's recruitment has seen little fanfare as he is taking his time with the process. Most feel the 'Bama legacy is a lock to the Crimson Tide, but look for Auburn, Florida, and South Carolina to do their best to sway him. In the end, it may be tough for him to pass up playing for Nick Saban because of the defensive scheme and fit. Factor in Saban's reputation as a defensive back guru, which can't hurt either. The only disappointment might come in not seeing Humphrey. He wants to attend the Rivals Camp Series, but is working on a scheduling conflict.

There are not many true cornerback prospects at the high school level who are as polished and ready to take the college step as Humphrey. He is well-groomed from both a technical and mental standpoint at the nuances of one of the more difficult positions at the high school level. While refined, Humphrey also has the size and strength to succeed in physical schemes out on the perimeter and the foot speed and hips to play man on an island. That scheme versatility really adds to his worth as a prospect.

bump, this is a 5* player that has legit interest in us, and we are the only school outside of Bama that he has come out and said are in a good position for him when his recruitment starts to heat up. If he doesn't want to have to live up to his fathers legacy we could be in really good shape
