Worried about Clemson

I'm starting to get worried that Clemson might really have a shot in joining the SEC. Rumors are that Clemson is in talks with the SEC as we speak. I understand the TV marketing strategy but I think the SEC learned their lesson with that after allowing Mizzu in.

SEC doesn't care to expand - to have to go through the headache and hassle of juggling schedules again - PLUS - there's not a snowball's chance in hell that the UNI allows the football program alone to lower their oh-so-high academic standards, especially after all the manipulating they've done trying to become the MIT of the South.

I'm much more concerned about winning the SEC than what conference clemzun plays in.

And besides, why the hell would they want to leave the ACC. It gives them the best chance of making it to a BCS bowl game and winning conference titles. I haven't heard anywhere that the ACC is going away. Didn't they just sign some long term contracts with a major network or something?

South Carolina would vote with Florida to block FSU from entry and vise versa to block Clemson. They would be more likely to go big 10 or 12. I guess that Notre Dame addition didn't mean much after all.

When we went independent back in 1971, they were supposed to leave as well.... they literally backed out at the last minute, and stayed in the ACC....

Many still today think Clemson pulled that stunt just to hurt Carolina

I agree. Clemson won't be asked to be in the SEC and, even if they were asked, there is no way that USC, UGA and Florida would allow them to be voted in. The entire league has to vote a team in and that means that there is no way any in-state rivals will be entering the SEC.

It doesn't make good business sense. There would be zero return on the investment for the SEC. They don't pick up any media shares from adding them. Would probably cost the SEC money to add them with no return. SEC didn't become the power it is right now by making stupid business decisions! Clempsux brings nothing to the table for the SEC in any sport. In football, they would be middle of the pack at best. In baseball, they would be middle of the pack at best. In basketball, they would be middle of the pack at best. They bring NOTHING!!!
