Taking your helmet off on the field is unsportsmanlike conduct I believe.
This is a non-issue but just thought I'd ask because on the ice TD, Clemson's Brewer clearly takes his helmet off in frustration, directly in front of a camera

I've never heard of that one.

OK, really?
I see flags all the time for guys taking their helmets off. Well, more in the past when they used to abuse it and the penalty came from mostly Thug U players. I complained Brewer did not get a flag but I don't think the refs even saw him.

It can be called unsportsmanlike conduct, but it is left up to the discretion of the referees.

Yea i noticed this during the game and it really pissed me off. Not only did he take it off on the field, which is an automatic 15 yards, he threw it into the ground, which is unsportsmanlike conduct

You are exactly right....the taters should have given a 15 yard penalty on the kickoff.

I saw that, but the angle to me looked like he was on the sidelines. I just assumed he was. Also Spurriers little hop/skip is hilarious and Coach Elliot yanked that headset off so fast I thought he was going to spike it.

Anybody remember when kansas city lost a game a few years back because a defensive dude took off his helmet in celebration and ended up getting 15yd penalty and other team kicked a fg on an untimed down to win. That was some of the funny stuff i have ever seen

It's only a penalty if the refs see it, the camera can't throw a flag. Everything is legal, until you get caught.

Boyd did the same thing after he ran the ball in for the first TD. They showed him running through the corner of the endzone with helmet in hand.

If it happened during the drive between plays, I would be more upset.
However, this drive was over after we scored the TD, so I'm ok with the no-call on this one. As I type this though, I remember when Eric Norwood got a 15 yarder for taking his helmet off when we upset Ole Miss. I don't remember if that happened during a drive or after a drive though.

I saw that one and was pretty upset that they didn't call it. He took it off almost as soon as he scored and was jumping up and down talking smack. What he did was the reason why the rule was put in. People like Taneyhill in the 90's used to flip their helmet off as soon as they scored and just start talking smack, so they made it illegal. I remember seeing guys unbuckling their chin strap at the 10 as they were going in to score, so they could take their helmet off faster.

Boyd actually did it twice. Once when he ran in for a TD and also when he passed to Hopkins for the TD. Both times caught on camera. I commented at the time that those should've been called. Inconsequential maybe but a rule is a rule but it didn't seem to get called at Clemson. Of course those were SEC refs supposedly and they failed to call holding all year long but figured that one out Saturday and flagged several. They still seem to have trouble understanding what is/is not pass interference- ie. LeGree INT.

He was on the sidelines. You can clearly see the "C" at the start of Clemsux in the background, so he was technically "off the field".
