He didn't really bad-mouth USC, he said that Columbia was boring.

He's taking a visit on Jan 8 per him....but they think he had the date wrong and he meant Jan 18 which is a big recruiting weekend for us.

Guys can make any number of unoffical visits that they want to. The coaches will see to that. As far as the reduction in scholarships, it'll probably just affect what's left to give to walk-on's, etc. There's usually 2 or 3 available for that in any given year. It really shouldn't affect us much at all, or at least I think so.

Knowing what has happened in the past .. there will be transfers and players who might lose scholarships.... so I dont think we will even notice the scholarship losses.... but I hate to lose a kid on the account he was unable to see campus and the atmosphere that surrounds the football team... Thats what will hurt more is the OV's... but it wont be detrimental.. As a question though there is no limit to unofficials ... right

With early entrants and attrition, we will be able to manage the limit / reduction in schollies. Also, I earlier read that we do not usually use all of the official visits that we are entitled to and that the reduced # is close to the normal amount that we use. Our staff will manage this well, especially if we keep having great success on the field and in the classroom.

No there isn't a limit to unofficials, since the recruit pays his own way to make that trip. We couldn't stop someone from coming to see if they got a ticket, bought their gas and chose to come to the game.

I really think some leaders who commit early will go to one of the Coaches and say something like, "USC is where I want to be, I'm 100%, so why don't you use the OV I was going to take and try to get another recruit."

I didn't know the appropriate thread for this so I figured I'd mention it here.

GCC mentioned something about a four star prospect at a position of need who may be making plans to visit here. Anyone have any insight or know who it might be?

WR JaQuay Williams (6-3 215) of Fork Union Prep, VA decommitted from Auburn earlier this week and has made contact with USC according to his coach. John Shuman said Wednesday Williams emailed USC recruiter Brad Lawing Tuesday to express his interest in the Gamecocks. Shuman said Lawing may get up to Fork Union this week to visit with Williams. Williams is a native of Tyrone, GA. He has taken official visits to Texas A&M and Georgia. Williams is on track to complete his work at the prep school December 14th and be eligible under NCAA guidelines. Williams had been committed to Auburn since June of 2011 but pulled his pledge after the coaching change there.

Williams is the caliber of player that could change our stance on taking a WR this cycle. Top notch prospect who has an extra year of physical maturity under his belt and is an EE. A very intriguing combination even though WR really isn't much of a need in this cycle.

Kid has the tools to be a gamechanger. UGA almost flipped him right before NSD last year but he chose to stick with Auburn.

He was considered the top WR in GA his Senior year. Hard to turn away.

I would like to finish out with him (WR), a (CB) to replace Langley, Williams (RB), Rodgers (OL), and another (DL).
