Why I want UGA to win the SEC and the National Championship

The SEC has a huge TV deal, they get great bowls, and they are the most appealing conference if they don't win another national title for 5 years. They have earned that. Really had the respect prior to all those national titles. If a team out west (LSU, Arkansas, etc.) is playing for the national title, chant SEC all you want, but don't think Georgia or Bama is going to share anything from that national title with us or anyone else.

I do understand that side of it, but it's not like the SEC is any danger of losing the respect it's earned to this point. ESPN isn't going to yank away our monster TV contract if one of our teams doesn't win a sixth consecutive national title. The way I see it, if other SEC teams happen to do well and boost the collective profile for everyone, fine. But I'm not going to actively root for a team that is the closest thing we have to a conference rival, especially when we go up against said team for recruits.

I hope Bama wins it all. I sincerely hope they blow out UGA as well. We pull a lot of recruits from GA, not so much AL. I'd rather lose a recruit to Bama and only play them once than to Uga and see them multiple times.

Look at it this way....who does the media and the pollsters love? Florida State, Florida, Ohio State, SoCal, Texas, Bama, ND, Michigan, etc. What do all these teams have in common? a great conference? Noooo, they all have storied winning programs. If we want to get that "benefit of the doubt" WE have to win which means WE have to recruit as well as we have been lately, which means THEY (Georgia, Bama, Florida, LSU, etc.) can't win and keep stealing the Tramel Terry's, Aj Greens, Carlos Dunlaps, Boulwares, Haynesworths, etc. from under our noses.

You nailed it in your first comment. I agree and don't have a problem with Bama winning it for that reason. I would rather Oregon win it or something though.

Yes it can fall apart but it is highly unlikely. It's only getting more competitive. The Big Ten has fallen off some but I suspect in the next few years they will be back with Meyer, Nebraska, Michigan, etc. The SEC has been well respected since (I hate to say this) the Hershal Walker days and especially in the 90s with Spurrier, Peyton Manning, etc and its not like they dominated the national championships then. In todays football world, its what have you done lately. Oregon and K-State lose a game and stay in the top 5. They aren't in the SEC but the pollsters and BCS respect their schedule and how they play. Being in the SEC may give you that advantage over other comparable teams like a 2 loss LSU team a few years ago, but generally the SEC champ unless they both have 2 losses will get to the title game. In years they don't like this year if Oregon had remained undefeated, the SEC would still be considered the most dominant conference even with no titles to show for it. I do agree that who we as Carolina fans cheer for has no impact on who wins the game, but to chant SEC after LSU wins the national title is like the Cowboys chanting NFC EAST after the Giants won the Super Bowl. THEY (meaning LSU or whoever) earned their spot there, not the other SEC teams they beat.

I don't chant SEC anyway and I don't expect them to share anything either..I just think it further proves the SEC is the dominating conference in football. I mean look at how many 2 loss SEC teams are ranked higher than 1 loss teams from weaker conferences. I would never pull for uga if they were to beat bama, but if bama wins I think it would be cool if they won it all. I mean 7 straight? That is nuts

It's a what have you done for me lately league but the SEC is solid right now. I would never pull for uga to win anything...ever..except vs clemson

In that instance I would pull for UGA to win in 7 OT with a score of 3-0
