Johnny Football
The most exciting player to watch game in and game out while also putting up numbers greater than 2 college football legends in Tebow and Newton. The argument for Notre Dame and Te'o is the fact he has been consistant all year and has a team who is undefeated. Still gotta go with Manziel though. Too electric to not give him the Heisman.

Te'o isn't even the clear-cut best defensive player on his own team.

I think you could definitely make the argument that Louis Nix is a bigger part of that defense than Te'o.
Te'o is obviously a great player, but he's such a product of hype. Look at the Southern Cal game for example. I keep reading and hearing how Te'o led that goalline stand at the end and how that's one of his signature moments of the year. If you actually watched the plays - the guy wasn't even close to being involved in any of the plays on that goalline stand. He also gets the Luke Kuechly treatment: when Kuechly was at BC he had such a rep for being a monster tackler that whenever he was anywhere in the general area of a tackle or play, the announcers/media/whoever would automatic credit Kuechly for the stop regardless of whether he actually made the tackle- largely based on his reputation. Exact same thing with Te'o. If he's anywhere near a play, he gets the credit, and the announcers and media run with it. |

eh, I was under the impression manziel was a true freshman haha damn I knew it was too good to be true for that. I do think he deserves the heisman though, & If he wins theres a chance he could win it again before he leaves. So technically he can go to the NFL then after his sophomore year??

I would agree that playing qb and rb are two completely different things. BTW...Johnny Manzeil has rushed for more yards this year than Bo Jackson did in his first year and almost as many as he did in his second year. And even though Walker set the freshman rushing record at 1,600 yards and 15 tds...he was a freaking beast...Manzeil has outgained even him by almost 2500 yards and is responsible for 43 tds...FORTY-THREE...19 rushing...during his first season on the field vs Walkers unbelievable 15 during his first year of competition. And as if there needs to be more proof of how good Johnny Football actually is we are sitting here trying to compare him...after his first year of any action what so ever...to absolute all-timers like Tebow, Newton, Walker and Jackson...literal SEC legends and among the greatest college players of all time...because no one else even comes close to doing what he has done in his very first year on the gridiron.

I don't think Te'o is deserving of the award either. Nothing about his play has just STOOD OUT to me. I mean I haven't seen any huge game changing moments from him. Maybe they are there, maybe I've just not been giving ND attention who knows, but honeybadger of last year > Te'O this season. I still think AJ Mccarron should atleast be in NY, at one point he had like 18 TD's and 0 INTS and led an undefeated team until they had to face Manziel. & if were going by body of work as alot of heisman voters tend to do, He won a national title last season.
On another note, isnt Golsen from ND a freshman or RS freshman? That's another guy that maybe down the road has a shot if ND continues to play well.

Manziel I could see winning.
Te'o I could not see winning. We have seen much better defensive players this year. Te'o just happens to play for the #1 Fightin' Lou Holtz's..

Te'o has no business in the conversation. He is not even the best LB in the country much less the best player in the country. He is second in the nation in INT and deserves credit. He racked up a ton of tackles early in the season but he has fallen off big in the end of the year. 5 tackles against USCw and BC, 6 against Wake and 7 in 3OT against Pitt. There are like 50 more LBs in the country that average more tackles a game than him.

The Florida game wasn't bad, the 3 picks against LSU weren't good, but in fairness Florida was the second game of the year....2 of the best defenses in the country. The LSU game was in the middle of the season. He got better as the season progressed and being a freshman showing that kind of improvement is very important. He's a lock for the Heisman. |

Manziel deserves it. Only reason Te'o is in the discussion is because he plays for Notre Dame.
