I do think the average of about 15th is reasonable. Thats why you look at different methods of ranking its not the worst number and its not the best number either usually its in the middle of those.

Why? It was ok last year for a non-conference champ to play.

This is a stupid argument. Just because they don't have a league championship doesn't mean they deserve to go any less than the winner of the SEC.

Ok, but what if FSU was undefeated and the team going into the NC, their conference championship is a joke. The SEC gets rewarded already for their conference difficulty and have made it into the NC game just because they won the conference game. It is a burden and a benefit and complaining about it is stupid.

Even with the SEC Championship game the winner of the SEC, be it Alabama or Georgia will only have two wins in games against top 10 quality teams (using the aggregate rankings, see above). ND has already done that while playing a higher quality of team in the middle.

Also So Cal has 5 losses but 3 of them are to top 8 teams, so that's an impressive win that your numbers ignore. So Cal was a favorite to win the national title prior to the season, they didn't suddenly become unathletic just because they lost some games. Also ND, like a Bama, will always get everyone's best game.

People always ignore the moment of a season and how a loss can mess up the rest of the year. Just look how the winner of the Carolina vs UGA normally has a good year and the other suffers. The same can be said of Michigan vs. ND or Michigan State vs ND, lastly if Miami had won do you think they might not have had a better year.

ND wasn't best team to start year and may not be the best team on paper, but they have earned a chance through their play to play for it all.

I agree. No cupcakes. Played programs from coast to coast. Played tough, sound ball. They are a solid team with a lot of talent, but no individual star.

Ohio St had nothing to play for. They never had that "number 1" thing hanging over their heads. Some programs cant handle that, especially later in the season. Opponents like it too! for the upset!!!
