I know this discussion should be held in the future, but watching highlights of him, interviews, and hearing what people say about him, I can't help but be excited about our future at QB. I love Shaw and Thompson, but down the road, I think Mitch will be the best QB we've had in a long time. Bama and LSU went after him as well, which speaks volumes...not trying to over hype the kid, but how do you all feel about him?

Great potential, has all the tools you look for. Based on what Dylan's been able to do I expect him to redshirt next year and learn the system. We have two capable QB's now and Nostovich will be in the mix next year as well.

If he is as good as advertised, we should all be happy. I'm especially glad he's an EE.....that will be huge for him to go through spring practice.

The thing that needs to be emphasized is he is an EE. Like mentioned above, getting that Spring practice under his belt is going to be huge. He will have 2 spring practices, 2 fall practices, and 2 winter/summer workouts under his belt before he potentially hits the field in 2014. I expect his development to happen a lot faster than Shaw and Thompson's because of that. Going to be fun to watch.

I just hope our fans will stay patient. He will redshirt this year and I doubt we see much of him at all in the Spring. They'll spend a ton of time working on mechanics and learning what to do within the offense. I bet he will get some work in 1 on 1's but not much 7 on 7 / 11 on 11. Also remember he played in a shotgun friendly offense so he is going to have to learn to work from center. So I hope no one gets discouraged if he doesn't get many live reps this Spring.

Very true! With all that time though i can't wait to see his first time on the field with Shaq, Byrd, Bruce, Adams, Busta, Fuller, S Jeff, Rainey, K Smith, and KJ!
That is a VERY talented group of receivers to throw to if they develop like we hope!

Just PLEASE keep him away from 5 pts! Hope he learns from Dylan and Connor that is the first rule of being on Spurrier's good side

What about Nosovitch (sp?)? I had heard he was doing really well in practice?

Take the doing well in practice with a grain of salt. Even Clifford had reports of doing well in practice before the season..

I like Thompson and Shaw, but if Mitch comes in and lights it up... it wont bother me one bit to see our two upperclassmen holding clipboards. Put the guy in that gives you the best chance to win. Its been a lonnng time since we've had a stud at QB.

From what I learned from the Garcia experience, I'll wait a few years to hype him up too much. It's great that he's coming here though and I hope he ends up being an elite QB.

Other teams seem to be able to break out RS freshmen qbs and be successful... i hope we can be one of them if he pans out

My understanding is that he's the perfect prototypical type QB for Spurrier's Fun-N-Gun style offense. He seems to be able to throw the timing pattern exceptionally well which is what made Spurrier/Wuerfull so dangerous back in the day.

C2 is right in that we will se a lot more of Nosovitch this Spring than Mitch but on the other hand I'm really looking foward to seeing what Noso can do.

Very few. Several RS freshmen, but few right out of HS. Having both dual threat and dropback guys available lets us prepare for and throw stuff at teams with different strengths. It also allows the coaches to use the different other offensive weapons, adjust to OL strengths and weaknesses, and manage the pace of the game based on the other team's offense. We didn't go over the top on Clemson, but we sure kept it out of their hands (86 plays to 59).
