Clowney Named Hendricks Award Finalist

Clowney is one of six finalists!

The Ted Hendricks Foundation is pleased to announce the finalists for the 2012 Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award. Twenty players received votes in the preliminary round this season. Six have advanced to the final ballot.

If he doesn't win this then there's some SERIOUS problems. He is BY FAR the best DE in the nation ... if not the best Defensive player in the nation.

Te'o has the name recognition but Clowney by far is the best defensive player in the country. Nobody has been as big on defense as Clowney, especially in winning games for his school.

This award is for defensive ends. Te'o is a linebacker... Will not be considered

i'm was talking in the context of best defensive player in the country, not just DE.

i would really like to know why Clowney isn't being talked about more for the heisman? dude leads the nation in tackles for loss and sacks. he also played in the best conference and one of the toughest schedules in that conference. not to mention double and even triple teams on passing downs. sounds like the heisman is a lot of politics,not skills.

heisman has been politics for awhile now.

honestly surprised Johnny football has a shot at winning it. figured the biggest talk would be about someone from Bama or ND.

Clowney certainly would get my vote, and I'm sure he will get plenty that actually count. As far as Hiesman, the trophy itself is probably scared of him. Think Johnny got that one wrapped up.

Schools nominate finalists based on grades, community works, and team leadership. Perhaps JC isn't as strong in some of these categories?

Apparently, the only thing that defensive players can win are championships. But wasn't Clowney a finalist for another award for this year?

This should be a no brainer.
Even Pauly from the DP show tweeted during the first half of our game Saturday something along the lines of: "South Carolina is the only team where I constantly watch a player on defense rather than the other team's qb"
