I understand I'm not on the "committee" but I doubt the conference will considering taking a look at Ohio's 4th most watched football team.

All the SEC need to do is watch other conferences implode (ACC & Big East). Ad when the time is right invite whoever they want.

Not to mention that Cincy is currently begging to get into the ACC. If the ACC doesn't want Cincy, then what makes people think the SEC would? If Cincy is in play then East Carolina might as well be too. At least it sells out its football games and is in North Carolina.

The SEC should definitely add Cincinatti and UConn... Might I also point out that not one of the effers was talking about Maryland and Rutgers to the Big 10 as of a couple weeks ago.

Cincy is on the Kentucky state line. We already have that media market.

Geographically, the University of Miama (FL) would be a perfect fit and would net the Miami TV market....the only problem is from what I have seen their fanbase turnout at games is crap (I don't know how that translates into TV ratings though). I am really surprised The U hasn't tried to throw thier hat in the ring. As they are no where close to Gainesville, I don't think UF would fight it as bad as they would FSU. |

The UF games are already shown in the Miami market.

I have now idea what the UF following in the Miami area is.....but with Miami having a reportedly top 15 fanbase population that is a whole lot of TV sets.
As most SEC games are televised nationally (except one weekly regional game, one PPV per team and sporadic ESPN "regional" coverage), getting televised in areas is not an issue, it is getting those folks in larger areas to turn the SEC on. |

Out kick the coverage had the quote.
Doesn't matter if they don't even turn the game on, as long as it's in the market, the conference benefits from it. The state of Florida is already locked down with having UF

I don't think we'll add crappy teams, just because they are in an attractive media market.

Miami can't even put 30,000 in their seats.

If the SEC were to add 2 more teams, I'd say eastern expansion is likely. VA Tech appears to be an option if the SEC wanted to get a portion of the DC market. But I'm not so sure about a team from North Carolina; the four schools (UNC, Duke, Wake and NC State) would probably want to stay together as long as possible, especially Duke and UNC. Plus USC's not that far away from Charlotte - which isn't exactly a small TV market. If it's possible, pick up VA Tech and a school from NC, and move Missouri to the West.
Florida State, Clemson, Georgia Tech and Louisville are out of the question as UF, USC, UGA and UK will vote in a bloc to prevent those moves. But in this age of realignment, anything can happen. After all, VA Tech wasn't in the ACC until 2004 and I don't remember Virginia putting up resistance to their entry. |

The entire key to SEC realignment will be determined by lobbying in VA and NC.
There is no way IMO that the VA legislators will allow UVa to be left high and dry after their excessive fighting for VaTech to get in the ACC. In NC it could be a little easier if NC St is the team chosen. UNC and Duke would still have each other. Im not so sure how easy it would be if UNC was the school chosen. If the Big10 takes UVa and UNC, VaTech and State are a lock. I don't see State as a Big10 school so that may pose the biggest problem to UNC coming to the SEC (which I still haven't made my mind up if I would be in favor of that)
