This isn't football where you have 22 guys that play and 85 scholarships. It's basketball where you have 6-9 guys play and 12 scholarships. It can be turned around very quickly. The players have to get tougher and play more fundamentally sound. Right now our biggest challenge is teaching them how to be winners.

Glad that's over. Don't think we played as bad as the 24 point loss says. Just mailed it in after Williams got hurt. More worried about him than our basketball team. St Johns was just miles ahead of us. We will improve.

I started believing this just a few games into the basketball season last season. He needs to stick with football. Only chance he has to play pro sports.

Next season when the players the announcer mentioned get here, we will see improvement. This year is just going to hard knocks and I think deep down this is what most of us expected.

Only way we win more than last year is to improve, obviously, but we need teams we play to help us by having some bad games against us. Maybe later on this season we can improve and some SEC teams will take us lightly and not play well.

I'm no basketball guru because I really can't stand basketball. I'll tolerate it enough to watch Carolina play, but after tonight, that was painful to watch. on top of it, it looks as if we have lost our top 3 point threat. Why does that not surprise me.

It really, really seemed like St. Johns was getting all the calls in the first half and we couldn't catch a break. I mean really..didn't we go into the half with ZERO free throws?
This team just flat out got beat. Rebounding, shooting, hustle, fast break points, And-one fouls...you name it. I guess it really goes to show the difference between a football/baseball school compared to a basketball school.
I was shocked when I heard the announcer say that they had the #3 recruiting class in the nation. Well, that was an impressive stat. It looks as though there is promise in this team. Hopefully at some point in time this season we will see it. I hope Williams is Ok and will be back soon.

And the exact opposite happened tonight. St. John's played by far their best game of the season. Yeah, we helped them along the way, but sometimes when a team is that hot it's hard to compete. Tonight they shot 50% from 3, and probably would have been better had they not been jacking up so many at the end of the game. They normally only shoot 30% from there. Did it make a huge difference in outcome? No, but it made it look worse than it probably should have been.

But we knew we would take our lumps this year. Coach will have them ready to go on Sunday. The main thing now is hoping Williams is ok. Good to hear he was able to move his arms and legs right away.

I think we all knew this was going to be a long season, but we want to get better over the course of the year. We took a step back tonight, but the team lost its focus when Brenton got hurt. Let's hope the trip to the hospital was just precautionary and he will be fine. Thank goodness he was in NYC when he got hurt and not in Puerto Vallarta. He'll receive no better care than he can get in NYC.

I guess because its the pinnacle of athletic success, just as being a top notch doctor or amazing businessman is the best in those fields? I dunno

Because we like to see them succeed in life and being able to play at the next level would mean that and it helps with recruiting which makes the current teams better.
A better question is, why wouldn't you?
