Not to mention as of right now...Shaw will end up winning more ballgames than any QB in the history of our program....He is a winner and will contiune to be...

I'd counter that good defenses more or less negate his running. He had negative yards against both FLA and LSU this year, 42 against Nebraska in the bowl but only 2.2 a carry. Georgia this year is the only team he's been rather successful running on a good defense.

I wanna see DT play against a good D before I crown him the starter.

But his ability to run out of the pocket is negated by his inability to check down to his receivers or get rid of the ball in a timely fashion. It makes the offense incredibly 1-dimensional.

We also have to remember that Shaw has been hurt for the last month and a half...That is one reason Shaws running stats have been lacking in the last 4 games or so.....

It would be interesting to know how the same people would have voted back in the beginning of the season.

AgreedRemember, He has been hurt ALL SEASON LONG. I have a feeling that when the spring game comes around, his performance will change a lot of peoples opinions about him.

What's going to happen in the Spring game that will be worth noting.....remember, no hitting the QB so I don't put much into the spring game for QB's.

Granted, Shaw has been hurt this season, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that last season one of the greatest receivers we have ever had (Alshon Jeffery just to be clear) had a dismal year because we (Shaw) could not get the ball to him on anything close to a consistent basis. What were Ace Sanders' numbers like? Passing is not his forte, running is, and to be the team we claim to want to be, we are going to have to have a balanced offensive attack.

When I saw how many pages, I decided not to read. Since the first game I saw DT, I noticed his "range" of passing the ball to many different receivers.
He sees the field in a way that Shaw can't. He sees the entire field, all the receivers, and knows where they should be, and throws it so when they come out of their cuts or moves, the ball is there. Shaw can't make the throws he can. Please, look at the stats. When Shaw plays, over 90% of our receivers are nullified because he just won't throw to them. It is clear he does not trust them, and had rather run to be the hero. DT, lets the receivers be the stars and get the glory. Shaw is a glory hound or else he would hang in there, see the entire field and get the ball to the receivers instead of looking for any excuse to run it himself. We need a QB who can throw, Shaw can't. He can only get in it the "general area" of a receiver, and then, he will only look for one receiver on each play and that is always his favorite. Remember how many times last year he did not throw to the open man instead always trying to hit AJ with the ball? However, I think he makes a great backup. |

The thing I always love about threads like this is the contradictions that always come from people who are trying to support the same opinion.
We've learned that Alshon had a bad season last year because Shaw wouldn't throw him the ball but the rest of the receivers also had bad years because Shaw wouldn't throw the ball to anyone but Alshon. We also know that Shaw doesn't see the field because he only looks for his favorite receiver and misses the open guys but if you look at the box scores from Shaw's starts you'll often see 7+ different receivers with receptions so he must have a lot of favorite receivers. |
