Whatever Happened to Dion LeCorn?

I was reading through the recruiting thread for Swearinger and I saw LeCorn's name. What the heck happened to him? First year, true freshman, he was money. He put up solid numbers and then just disappeared. Anybody know what happened? I forgot all about him until reading Swearinger's thread.

He had a bad injury and lost a step. I think it was a torn achilles tendon or something like that. anyway, he wasn't the same after that.

He broke his ankle in the spring game and was never the same after that. He ended up playing safety some in his senior year.

yep. the last play of the scrimmage. I believe that is why Spurrier is always so anxious to end the spring game.

what a shame. I wasn't aware of that. I really thought the kid was a baller and he showed not only great potential as a freshman, but actual results to go with it.

he did not have a good work ethic. i feel bad about the injury and all that, dont wish that on anyone, but he was a friend of a friend, and i hung out with him a fair amount, and he did not live the life a dedicated athlete would live. ill leave it at that.

That is out of character for Dion. I am friends with him, and he is a really great guy. Heck, he has even let me rock his SEC ring a few times.

Dion is still living in the Midlands, and his college career was plagued by injuries. That being said, he is one of the best run blockers at WR we have had in the Spurrier era.

Well, you can say that about a lot of players we had in the first half of the Spurrier era, unfortunately. A good amount of football players attended my fraternity parties for a while and were getting drunk just as much as anyone. At least they weren't as bad as the players under the Holtz era. Those guys were always at Village Thursday nights.

I met Dion LeCorn at the UF game and he was one of the nicest football players I'd ever had a chance to meet. He came over to our tailgate with his g/f and hung out with us until it was time to break down and go into the game.

He told me some interesting things about why he ended up at safety for the Outback bowl game in 2008 and how none of the other players wanted to even play in that game.

He also said he wished he played on this team now. He said it's night and day different than when he came to play at USC.

Truly a class act.

I remember when he broke his leg in the Spring Game. Spurrier ended the game after that play.

He was never able to get it going again after that injury.

I cussed him out on campus years ago over a parking space. It was a big misunderstanding though, hope he graduated. He had major talent.

Really nice guy! I've seen him around a couple times. He still tailgates before games and supports the team in any way he can.

Dude was pretty nice met him when i was at a game with Brian Scott. I liked his size and hands at the WR position. Crappy things didnt work out for him !!
