Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic, but we have had shitty luck the past few years with running backs getting injured. I really hope that trend doesn't continue, but if it does it can't hurt to have loads of depth at the running back position.

If we bring in Bryant, Smith, and Williams and there's a logjam at the running back position, one would think that Smith would be fine at DB, since he is obviously good enough for ND to offer at that position

I think Mitch coming in early and JW has said he wants to enroll early too may make a difference. Don't blame all our lack of passing production the last couple of years on the WR's.....lot's of blame to spread around, but that's another topic for another day.

Only issue is that the depth chart is usually scattered with 3* and 2* for backups. Getting a 4 or 5 to commit to coming in with a mindset of bringing depth isn't what is on their mind...they know they have that opportunity to start somewhere and shine.

Not saying they will be any better than that 2 or 3 star, I am just talking about their mentality when it comes to selecting.
