Well GT would get gobs of money. There are tons of Big 10 fans and alumni in GA that already subscribe to the big 10 network. But by getting a team in the market the rates automatically go up by like 110%, apparently. Does anything else think that the real problem here is that cable companies are paying for programming based on pretty unsophisticated and sloppy metrics. Can't they come up with some metric by which UGA in Atlanta is worth more than Maryland in DC. Hell UGA probably has more fans in DC than Maryland does.

I personally don't think UVA leaves under almost any scenario. They probably place more value on the perception of prestige in athletic affiliation than any other ACC school this side of Dook. I see UVA and the North Carolina schools hanging back with some big east remnants in a league even if it is not a BCS playoff automatic qualifier league.

Because two noteworthy(debateable) victories means you can win this bullcrud league and go a BCS game. What a joke.

Buddy sent me a text two weeks ago before the Wofford game that said that GT and UNC were looking to jump to the Big Ten.

hmmm, you can keep playing duke, wake, clemmy, etc...OR you can play Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Nebraska, Wisky....yeah, it makes no sense.
I think it would be a wash in basketball...BIG is equal to ACC there.

Why does the Big 10 want acc creampuffs like Mary Land, GT, and others? Don't they realize that will soften the Big 10 ?

I believe the thinking(hoping) is that a tougher conference with more resources will pull the level of these teams up such as it did for Carolina though I think getting the right people in the right positions(AD, Coach, etc) is the reason USC is now at the level they are. Then again,it didn't seem to work that way when FSU and Miami joined the ACC,did it?

Well, FSU and Miami joined like 20 years apart . . . but I see what you're saying.
The addition of Va Tech/Miami/BC to the ACC matter very little (other than having an ACCCG).

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Big 10 go to 18 teams, maybe even 20.

Syracuse and Pitt are perfect fits for the Big 10 and their payout will be much better there instead of the ACC. I believe after finding out Louisville is going to the ACC, their plan is to stay together and make the ACC the powerhouse basketball conference like it once was. I just don't think they can pull it off because there is just not enough money in basketball.

It's all about TV markets and cash money. Atlanta is a big market for the Big 10 to pick up subscriptions for their network

Markets or not..I just cant see GT in the BIG Ten/12/16. I hate how geographics are being thrown out the window. At least the SEC hasnt gotten too crazy in that dept..yet. And who would the ACC get now? UCONN, Louisville, anddd Temple? USF? give me a break
