What is not working in his favor with regards to winning the award is....

1. ND Coach is the Guest Speaker
2. ND Player is Sr.
3. ND is ranked #1

Yeh but don't these defensive awards usually go by stats and actual impacts? Clowney is ahead in this category hands down. I personally think he is going to win this award.

JD should win but the whole story behind MT is what people are voting for. It's a terrible story but should have no bearing on who wins the award

IMO it will come down to either the ND guy or Jones of UGA...they are both seniors, and both have bigger stories and more prestigious programs behind them. The ND guy should be the last or no higher than #3 on the list, but the ND PR machine finally has some meat on the bone this year to push him into winning the thing.

Also the fact that Clowney is the youngest one of the finalists....hopefully JD runs away with the award next season....

Stories should not matter. Clowney is and probably always will be one of if not the best DEs to ever play the game. He deserves this award.

Besides what about the story of the night Clowney had 4 1/2 sacks on Clemson?
