It seems to have prompted some discussion. Everybody assumed he'd be gone after 3 but I don't believe he's said it publicly until now.

If the USFL was still around they would have changed their rules like they did for Hershall and let freshman in just to get Clowney. Half the teams in the NFL would make him a starter right now.

No surprises here, I would do everything to push him to the pros even if he wanted to stay. Love having him at Carolina, but he needs to do what is in his and his families best interests. When he leaves I will shake his hand and thank him for everything he did while he was here and cheer him on when he gets picked number 1.

I also love his confidence when it comes to the award!

Both Cam Newton and Andrew Luck got a 22 million contract over 4 years with
14.5 signing bonus. Luck's contract was marginally higher.

I'm not certain JC will be picked,first. Depends on the needs of the team drafting first or second.

I never questioned this was the way things were going to happen. He'll be taken in the top 10 picks, so it's automatic that he should go.

I didn't like the blunt way he gave the comment. OTOH, everything I've seen from JC this year just shows me he is committed to excellence. He's worked hard to understand our D and make his assignments - the difference between last year and this one has been night-and-day in that category. From the postgames I've seen, he's taken on a leadership role, and really does care about winning. His candor tends to arrogance sometimes, but whatever - it seems to work for him and the USC Football team.

We would be undefeated had Alshon and Gilmore stayed. We would have had a better record in 2007 had Sidney not left also. I wish the best for these guys but it does get aggrevating sometimes, how much better we could have been had some of these guys stayed one more year.

we would have lost to florida even with alshon and gilmore if we turned the ball over like that. it would be one thing if our competition wasnt losing quality players every year too. we're in reload mode just like them.

that 2007's team fate was sealed when we lost jasper and pepper for the season.

everyone pretty much assumed clowney was leaving anyway, but its a great move to say it now so that he wont be peppered with that question all next year.
