"Prolific"? Right now we are just looking for consistent. The first step to being consistent- catch the ball when you're open and it hits you in the hands.

Nick Jones is clearly a better option at this point. Nick had something like 8 very nice catches of all sorts against Clemtech.

Maybe Damiere can compete for the position this coming season, but in my book, it's Nick's job to lose. He's earned it.

I once had a game where I caught 3 passes from the offensive tackle spot and one of our receivers had no receptions. maybe they should have moved me to the X instead of on the line.

Exactly. One of the first things I think of in the Georgia game is how silent the crowd went, as I think we all thought Rambo had an INT, and when Byrd bounced up with the football the crowd went completely nuts. It set the tone for the night. I hate these threads that try to single out a player for criticism. Few,if anyone, on this board know all the factors that go into an individual player's on the field performance, yet they feel free to bash and act personally disappointed when he doesn't live up to their expectations.

Yeah..

Byrd has had more than 2 drops and many of them were not exceptionally "tough". I don't see why you don't accept the fact that Byrd needs to improve his hands. We don't have this conversation about Bruce or Ace and there's a reason. People aren't making this up out of thin air. DL has had some bad plays as well, but for some reason noone has a problem with the excessive bashing that got thrown his way.

Byrd has made some good grabs and can be a very good WR, he just has to improve his hands.

For those bringing up special teams tackles- those were huge and important plays that he made, but that in no way reflects on his ability to catch a football.

Example? Outside of the LSU and UT throws, I don't remember him dropping anything this year. He fumbled after catching a bubble screen against Mizzou.

Yeah, he improved with his catching skills that's for sure. To say otherwise just reflects bias.

I think part of the reason is just that we haven't really targeted him all that much for whatever reason.

Damiere's playing time has taken a hit because Bruce has shifted to X which has put Sanders at Z ahead of Damiere. Whereas earlier in the year Bruce and Damiere were splitting reps at Z. Also those two (Ace and Bruce) have been lights out the last half of the season so there aren't many reps for Damiere, Shaq, etc.
