I completely understand players transferring later in their careers if it is obvious they are buried and will never see the field, but he was a redshirt freshman. For whatever reason he quit, it was not a move that I think should be supported. If a player on our team is a redshirt freshman down on the depth chart I think the obvious thing to do is work harder and try to up your game, not just take your ball and leave.

And to address an earlier post, if he performs well it will speak volumes on qb evaluation and development here to me.

I disagree with your first point. If at any time you think it is best for you/your career to transfer, then transfer. Good luck to you and I hope it works out. Just the way I see it.

as to your second point, what will it say? Does it say he was developed well for a year and was two years away from being a starting QB? Or does it say that we couldn't see that he was going to be a good QB two years later and we should have made sure he stayed? For the record I don't think it says anything about the situation here except that he wasn't ready to be the starting QB.
