This was exactly the reason I thought UT should hold on to Dooley for one more year. There are too many teams out there looking for a new guy this year. I don't know who they're going to get, but at this point it looks like it's going to be a downgrade...

They couldn't keep dooley. He had to at least keep it close agaisnt Vandy. They should have aimed a little lower and maybe off the radar. Going after gruden and gundy was just stupid. Can't blame them for trying strong, just bad timing with the move to the ACC.

^ Butch Davis is in serious discussions with FIU. I don't understand why UT doesn't talk to him. Davis is a darn good coach. Yeah he got UNC into some trouble, but I think that was more of him turning a blind eye then being directly involved.
If Petrino was a serious candidate for any of the SEC jobs, Davis should be too. What he did pales in comparison.

There are some rumors flying around that Slive essentially told everyone in the conference to stay away from Petrino. If that's the case, it would explain why he isn't getting serious consideration from UTK.
Can't really blame Hart for this one completely. He inherited the mess that Kiffin/Hamilton/Dooley/boosters created. He's trying to fix it, but he just doesn't have a good situation to sell right now. The biggest problem that he had was letting the fanbase convince themselves that Gruden was coming. Everything after that will inevitably look like utter failure. Looks like the inmates are running the asylum right now in Knoxville. |

At this point I think they should go for Smart or Chavis. Most of the names I've heard after strong are very blah. So why not take a chance with one of these guys. It's worked well for UF so far.

I am not sure Chavis really has the desire at this point to be a HC.
I am not convinced that anyone other than Saban does anything at Bama. I don't trust that Smart really has any real influence over that D. Wouldn't be happy with that hire. Would rather have a Butch Jones type over him. |

Go after Michigan State's coach, Mark Dantonio. I mean shit it is worth a shot right, if Arky can pull Wisconsin's coach away, you should be able to throw enough money at Dantonio.
