Kelly is a good coach who realized he had to change his system to go to the top. Jones is one of his guys but that is not the system that Kelly has used to take ND to the championship.

So they hire someone with no SEC experience and a background in offense? Why not just keep Dooley, this is clearly not an upgrade. The most important point is still coming, who will be the defensive coordinator?

I guess on the plus side, the UT job is more attractive than Colorado and Purdue apparently.

Obviously, Tenn AD Hart is worried about sowing up 4th place in the SEC East.

Kelly is an insanely overrated coach. They should NEVER have struggled to beat Pitt, Purdue, etc, especially with apparently the greatest LB ever (college football awards were forever tarnished last night). I guarantee Bmma will beat them worse than they did LSU last year

They should have lost multiple times, but the refs really screwed Stanford and Pitt over.

Butch Jones is 3 and done at UT, zero chance he can outrecruit us, UGay, or Fla... I actually highly doubt he will be able to outrecruit Vandy and Franklin (best recruiter in the East).. Even UK has a better coach with a bigger name ol

-Coach of the Year point - sorry, so did Larry Coker; not impressive
-Charlie Strong is a helluva better recruiter (with SEC ties) than Butch Jones...plus Strong hasn't had a losing season at L'ville

This has all the markings of Tenn fans grasping...grasping for straws. Not smack talk...but think UT just declined further with this Non-SEC ties hire.

He was offered by Kentucky, Purdue and Colorado and declined them all.

Tennessee should have tried to make Bob Stoops the richest coach in college. I think Saban is 5.5 mil or something they should have gone in and offered Stoops 8 million a year. It would have been one of the only big names that would have made an impact. He has the national name to help recruiting, the proven track record, and has taken Oklahoma as far as he can or so it looks. His brother getting hired as UK really messed up this thought.

He never took the Cal job. He was offered the Colorado job, but declined it to stay at Cincy.

Then he was offered the UT job.
