Fast food (although I don't eat much of this): Chick-Fil-A, Arby's (for their chicken salad sandwich), and my guilty pleasure is going to Krystal.

Buffet: I don't do buffets.

Dine in: Panera Bread, Copeland's, Five Guys, PF Chang's, Macaroni Grill, Cracker Barrel. My guilty pleasure in this category is Waffle House.
There are several local non-chain restaurants that I support as well.

So what I've gathered from this thread: y'all don't get out much. These places are some of y'all's favorites? Really?

Travel the country (the time will come if you haven't gotten to yet) an you can experience some good local (regional) cuisine.

However....... I do also like Hardee's, occasional Taco Bell run, and of course chick fil a. For buffets I don't really like any except for Indian buffets and again occasionally a Chinese buffet.

** just re-read my post and I came off like a prick, but my point is there is a lot of good food out there and especially in big cities that are not chains. Just have to be lucky enough to get to travel and experience it.

Have you had the peppermint milkshake? I've always wanted to try one but haven't mustered up the courage to take those calories... And I don't think I could drink the whole thing and I'm the type of person who doesn't like to waste food.

Looks like this thread is going downhill so I thought I'd contribute. Someone menionted the Dutch Oven in Abbeville, which is a good place for some home style cookin. Also mentioned was the Cheesburger house in 96, also good. Ikes in Spartanburg needs to be added since we're talking burgers. Very good. Tourists go to the beacon, locals to Ikes. My job take me on the road all over the upstate and I try to avoid chains at all costs and hit up most of these local places often. Midway BBQ in Buffalo is awesome as well.

what good does it do to post local restaurants here? nobody will know what you're talking about unless they live in the same place. i mentioned that in my first post

Nobody will know what I'm talking about when I mention the little Korean joint up on Decker Blvd, or the Diner, or the Thai Place on Garners Ferry unless they live in Columbia.

I do like Yesterday's, everyone probably knows about that place.

Hell, I'm surprised someone even knew about Egg Roll Chen when I mentioned it.
