Leave the NCAA...form new divisions for football....it's being talked about

There needs to be a new division for the richer schools but I am not sure leaving the NCAA would accomplish anything...

"You'd have to start your own enforcement arm, replicate all the championships and recreate all the arms of the NCAA but just do it in a way that serves your own purposes better."

None of that sounds especially difficult.

This all comes down to money and equality. What is perceived as more fair: The top 5 conference making and spending the most money while smaller schools get some benefits or separating the two where the big schools keep the big money but the smaller schools actually have something to play for.

I don't see any scenario where central michigan for an example will ever be able to compete for a title unless the playoffs begin to greatly expand. Is it fair for them to start their season knowing even if they go undefeated it is very unlikely they will ever have a chance at a national title?

Plus, larger schools are handcuffed by what they can offer athletes due to smaller budget schools. If they broke away then increased stipends etc. is much more feasible.

there wouldn't be "enforcement arm"....it would be pay for play. The only rule against paying comes from the NCAA, if you are not in the NCAA their stupid rules would not apply.

The NCAA is so power struck they think that the new association would just be a duplicate NCAA...morons. The reason to leave would be to make it different and better...not the same.

If I ruled the sports world....

1- Keep the NCAA but reorganize it. Otherwise we risk having a professional minor league for football like baseball has. The NCAA has done well turning college football into a money making machine, but it needs a reality makeover.

2- F the FCS and BCS, have Divisions 1, 2, 3 and 4. Div 1 are the big money schools only, Div 2 are the ones who currently dwell in the lower levels of the BCS, Div 3 and 4 are the current FCS and lower

3- Each division has its own playoff. "December Madness?" Shorten regular season by one game if necessary. Beyond that, bowl games are subject to whatever the marketplace will bear.

4- Pay all players in Div. 1 a flat fee once they sign with a school but enforce recruiting regs, no bidding wars. Players who don't maintain academic eligibility don't get paid.

If football leaves the NCAA does that make them separate from their own schools athletic programs?

If so then only expect basketball to be able to operate (at some schools not even them)
