Not an impressive hire.
Jones hasn't really done much after taking over for Brian Kelly.
Honestly, I think UT will be in another coaching search 3 years from now.

UT should continue their coaching search for the next 3 years, maybe by then, they will have someone they want.

UT told Butch Jones to rent and not buy and his athletic office is on wheels.

I don't know much about Butch Jones. I do know he is highly regarded as a coach and as a person. I know the Vol fans wanted some big name coach. This guy has an excellent chance and I hope he can stay around long enough to get a defense together. Dooley had your offense playing great. It seems better for you in recruiting to actually have a coach. Kids like knowing a name.

Actually he only coached under Kelly for 1 season. He did replace Kelly at CMU after being an assistant at WVU and then replaced him at Cinci. He's more of a Rich Rod guy than a Kelly guy

I thought that after hearing it inside a busy store. It sounded like Butch Davis to me. I thought, why did they just not go with Petrino.
I checked this out on here because I thought the board would be full of info and commentary. Then it turns out to be Jones. What a let down for me!

Not as bad of a hire as people think. He's not a Charlie Strong type hire but this guy has a proven track record and has won everywhere he's been. He's one of the best hires (behind Petrino) that they could've made given who was available.
