The NFL is considering doing away with kickoffs because they feel as if it's too much of an injury risk. Instead, after a TD or FG the scoring team would get the ball back on their own 30 yd line but it would be 4th down and 15 to go for the first. You could try and get the first and keep the ball but if you don't get it the other team has good field position or you could punt. In essence the punt replaces the kickoff. Going for it replaces onside kicks.

I'm sick of all these crazy measures being taken to prevent injuries. Look, I don't like them as much as the next guy- but they are a part of the game and can happen at anytime.

They are ruining the game I love.

here is the deal..the guys are getting paid millions and then suing the league. suing them for getting concussions they incur while VOLUNTARILY playing a game for millions.

imo, if you voluntarily pay fb for millions you need to live with the chance of concussions. if you try and sue, then eff you. there also needs to be language in contracts stating that "for no reason whatsoever will a player be allowed to sue for a concussion".

A solution to all rule changes.

Since the problems are being brought about by Bigger and Faster players lets just downsize the players. Say a maximum height of 5 foot 10 inches, maximum weight of 175 pounds, leg length of 30 inches. We could further handycap the real fast guys with ankle weights like they handycap race horses.

I do not like the idea of getting rid of kickoffs. I really hated moving the ball to the 35 and in college that a touchback goes to the 25. I do have to say, of all the substitute ideas this is the best I have heard. Rather than trusting some lucky bounces and a kicker for onsides, you'd now have your best players on the field deciding if you get to continue the comeback. It could be worse, they could just say you get the ball at the 25 no matter what and no onside kicks.

I mean if anything just give the other team the ball at the 25 or try for an onside kick to get it back. It seems like an onside kick is much more difficult to execute than a 15 yard play. Teams with great QBs would have a great shot at converting a few of those 4th and 15s in a row.
