This year has been more about articulating the strategic vision. What we're putting into place are the things we need to do in those four areas to ensure we're on the right track over the next 10 years. So at the start of next season we can talk about what the tactics are that we hope to embark on over the next number of years. This year, 2012, was about year one, get the strategic plan in place and get alignment on that plan. Then years two through 10 we'll be executing on that plan. At some point I'll show you the plan, because it's pretty cool. And the strategic process if pretty cool, too, how it starts with vision and goes down to strategy, breaks out on players and marketing and comes together with Soccer United Marketing. I think the only way that it will get better is money.

You need more owners like the Red Bulls.
The more money they have the more money they'd be able to put into the top flight players. Because the Ronaldo's and Messi's of the world will not come play in the US unless they are getting paid like they do in Europe.

MLS needs to get rid of the Salary Cap. If you want to be a top league, model them like one.

Development will occur, but as long as those kids that are good can go overseas and make more money (Dempsey, Howard etc) they aren't staying in the US.

I will offer this.
For me, soccer is an also ran in major sports, but, I have a 6 year old grandson that thinks different. If you ask him, he'll tell you, he wants to be a pro soccer player. As I've stated in another thread, it's growing on me..................

is on espn2 right now, college cup, Georgetown beat Maryland for the first time in their history, it was a great game.

They never discuss the NHL either and it's a top league, although with the lockout right now it may decline.

The MLS is on the rise but I do not think it will ever reach the status of a top European league or compete with the MLB and NFL.

Actually they did not say the same thing 10 years ago, and with the recent influx of top talent (Beckham, Henry) they are miles ahead of where they were back then.
