Muschamp is a defensive minded coach with a fiery temperament. I'm sure there are a lot of defensive guys who would like to play for him. It hurts to lose a guy like Rolin, but if he de-committed once, he might do it again.
Not football related, but a kid in my son's HS class got offered a full ride and got accepted to Harvard, but enrolled at Florida A&M to be close to his girlfriend at FlSt. Then he dropped out to join the Marines. You never know what is on the mind of an 18 year old kid.

Perhaps, but so are most management jobs, and they usually come with accountability. Not sure that is the case with Jr. I am not placing any blame, but I am saying the usual consequenses for failure are not in place here.

Ok, I see everyone freaking about Matt Rolin and the other kid who apparently defected. Well I have two things to say;

1. Gary Grey. Remember him. He was also a big time recruit who defected and look how that turned out. Who knows if Rolin and this other kid turn out to be big losses or if it turns out to be a good thing they didnt go to USC, just like Gary Grey.

2. Our coaches. Maybe they weren't feeling Rolin and this other kid and they backed off, nobody knows except the coaches and the kids. Plus, our coaches have been taking so called lesser quality kids and winning with them so, they will just keep doing it.

Back to back 11 win seasons (if we beat Michigan) and some fans still second guess our coaches! Have faith!

ugh. I would rather get some more athletic free safety type kids like Shaq and Reginald and let them grow into it. We shouldn't have much trouble with our defense filling out the LBs and safeties. Just recruit a bunch of tough, motivated athletic tweeners and let them eat and workout in our program see who grows into what. If you miss on a guy he can probably help you out on special teams.

I dont see it as people second guessing our world class coaches at all. We are blessed with one of the best staffs in the nation. I see it as no matter what we do, how many games we win, or what power house we mud stomp we will be considered the little brother of the SEC to these high profile athletes until we win a championship. And even then I see UF, UGA, AL, LSU getting the recruiting advantage. As much progress we have made it will only take one bad year for us 7-5 6-6 during a rebuilding year and with the lack of a winning tradition we could hurt terribly in the recruiting game. I have faith in our staff but its hard to have faith in a 17 year olds head when Saban, Richt, and Miles are filling your head with images of championships.

Gary Gray had a decent career at Notre Dame. If he had been here he would have definitely seen some playing time at CB. Our CB's in that class were Akeem, Jamire Williams and Addison Williams. No offense to Addison Williams, but we may be at 6 out of 7 if we had Gray to put on Aaron Kelly.

FYI, being upset a recruit decommitted doesn't mean anyone doesn't have faith in our coaches.

Legal what are you talking about bud?

Shaq and Bowens 100% were LB's in HS and were recruited solely as LB's haha, they certainly never were perceived as "athletic free safety type kids"

What's funny is that you think the posters on cockytalk all have the exact same opinions and share screen names. As if there is a "collective cockytalk consciousness."

Different people can post in them. And sometimes, posters on cockytalk, just as in the real world, have differing opinions. So some people will think decommitting is dishonest and some people will think it's just part of the process.

Hope I cleared it up. Feel free to PM me if you have anymore questions about how message boards work.

Also - if you really don't see a difference in Yannicks decommittal and Rolin's flip, maybe there's no hope for you after all and I've simply wasted my time. But I'll leave this up in case it helps someone else.

Listen, I am dissappointed we had some defections as well, that's not who I am speaking to, I am speaking to the people who actually questioned our coaches ability in their threads. And let me be even clearer, its ok to question our coaches when it comes to a lot of things but not when it comes to recruits because no one really knows what the truth is except for the coaches and kids. And lets face it, isn't ALL recruiting a complete shot in the dark?

And to the other posters who talked about how no matter who we beat and no matter what we do, we will never beat the powerhouses in recruiting. I'm sure thats how many Florida fans felt when Spurrier first starting wining down there in florida, back in the early 90's. Everything has a start and an ending, this is our time!
