he ran a 4.8 before he hurt his knee. It's a loss, but I think the jury is out on if Rolin ever lives up to his pre-injury potential. But it's not like he was Jarvis Jones before he got hurt.

As much as the de-committments of Langley and Rolin hurt, I trust our coaching staff to sign quality guys out of the JUCO ranks. We have had success in the past with guys like Josh Dickerson, Tony Straughter, the Brinkley twins, Chaz Sutton, Rok Watkins, Big Byron Jerideau, Ladi Aijiboye, the list goes on and on. The only thing I worry about is the fact that the it is getting relatively late in the recruiting period, hopefully we can salvage some quality guys going under the radar that don't have a lot of offers and would love to receive a Carolina offer. A lot of times, those are the kind of guys that truly appreciate the opportunity they are being given and are willing to do whatever it takes to succeed, both athletically and academically.

Yannick at LB...Shaq Wiggins at CB.
But, it doesn't sound like we will get a CB. We apparently have two "silent" commits (my guess is Na'Ty Rogers and David Williams). I think we will get Yannick at LB, and I think we could sign one more guy with Kendal Vickers a sure thing for prep school.

To answer a prior question on this thread: Brendan Langley, DB, left us to go to Georgia.

It could be worse. At least we didn't lose the nations #1 commit who made our recruiting staff look like chumps in the process.

Just jokes! Can't think of a JuCo LB worth bringing in who isn't committed elsewhere.

Of all of the attributes that Spurrier has, working hard on the recruiting trail is not one of them. He never has and never will, and I am ok with that provided your staff over-works to make up for that. With Jr being the recruiting coordinator, the apple may not fall far from the tree in terms of recruiting effort. Clearly, this staff is not over compensating for SOS. I am happy with our class and no, the sky is not falling, but we are being out-worked. Period.

How in the world does Vanderbilt have a recruiting class currently ranked 15th? I have never felt that there is a secret to recruiting success. It is simply hitting the road, working your tail off. I remember a few years ago, watching a high school game on TV. There was Urban Meyer near the sideline taking in the game. Of course, he burned out and had to take a year off. But he also won 2 national championships.
I hope that when Spurrier eventually retires, Ray will open the wallet and hire a YOUNG and proven (successful track record as a FBS Head Coach) Head Coach. A young coach is more likely to have the energy to work 24/7 on recruiting. |

We really have had 10+ years of that, Lou was not a recruiting trail warrior either. Spurrier does an adequate job of recruiting, but compared to the elite in the SEC, he is below average in that category. He makes no bones that he does not want to kill himself recruiting, and again I am ok with that as long as that does not become the culture for our assistants, not to make up for it. Sadly, I am suggesting that it may.

Cam Newton came from the Juco ranks! I believe Mount Cody did as well. We might find a superstar in the rough

So did 20 others.who did little to nothing. Slay, JUCO *****, ended up at TE. So many examples. Let Cooper & Lewis start. Let all of the youngsters battle for PT. Not a fan of Juco LBs or Linemen....heck, Sean Smith was terrible here, but will get his NFL pension!
