Hate to hear this, but I wish him well. The starting C job may have gotten a little more interesting going into the spring, but I like what I have to hear about Waldrop. Hopefully he can step in and be the guy at that position.

I'm virtually certain he was a 4* star before committing to us and afterwards got that USC bump...back down to a 3*.

Players transfer all the time for all kinds of reasons, usually playing time. Blaming coach Elliott with zero knowlege of the situation is rediculous. A coach can only do so much, it's up to the player to put in the extra work in the weight room, film room, and practice field pushing himself every day to compete against top tier level players. Sometimes a player just plain isn't good enough and has a much better chance at PT at a smaller school.

I have heard nothing but positive feedback from players and reecruits about coach Elliott so whyn would you blame him without anything to substain that statement?

People do all the time, in fact you just did in the next sentence... difference here is he isn't leaving because of it, he's using it to become better. While some development does fall on the coaches, ultimately it is the players responsibility to put in the time and effort. Good luck to Harris where ever he ends up.

Wasn't AJ also a center in HS. I know that is where Rivals and Scout rated him. Face it, whoever comes in has huge shoes to fill. TJ is the most consistent OL we have had in a long time. Waldrop should be fine with Stadnick and Ford to provide depth. Cann could go there if necessary.

One thing noticeable about Harris is we expected him to add weight. He is listed on our roster lighter than he was in High School. Sounds like he may not be going hard enough in the weight room.

I think our staff has proven they can coach guys that are willing to be coached.

When you sign 4-5 OL a year, some attrition is inevitable. There's only enough spots for so many guys.

I agree with the above. Through Spurrier's tenure, when things like this occur, it is never as bad as it seems. When coaches leave, he hires better ones. When players get hurt, someone steps up. In the past (pre-Spurrier) when this kind of thing happened it always meant doom. We have to drop our old gamecock complex and remember we have someone in charge that is handling things. Even with the recruit defects this week, I am confident things will work out on signing day.

From what I have heard the decommits are addition through subtraction...Also, with my garnet glasses on I would like to beleive the requirements and work ethic are being kicked up a notch and those that don't want to put the time in will fall out. Well Harris was not that highly recruited (we were the only SEC offer), so some of this may be guys that can't or won't elevate their games.
We may be catching up, but we've been seriously behind the curve in OL for so long I think it's just going to take more time. I think we all can dream of a day when we have 5 starters that are 4th-5th yr players with solid depth backing them up.
