FYI Quinton Powell decommitted from Florida on Monday. (SIAP, but his thread is still locked). He was high on us at one time. He would def. replace (and is actually better than) Rolin.

Yeah, this is the harsh reality of it. If I'm not mistaken, most of our highly regarded classes were top heavy with instate talent. So maybe that's what we continue to focus on and develop...seems to be working so far.

Specifically though, is there anything you would like to see our staff do more of? Perhaps keep up with "in the bag" recruits more? Send out more love letters a la Dabo?

Georgia playing in the SECCG did more for them than their loss on Oct. 6 did for us.

If we couldn't do it the years we landed the #1 recruit, and the #10 recruit as headliners, we never will (barring SEC/Nat'l Champ.. or multiple 5 star guys in the state)

Next year we could maybe gilmpse the top 10, and certainly if we somehow get Hand. But getting Spain, Stanley, Crosby, Davidson, Scott, Barker, Miller, etc would get us into the top 10 I would expect... would be a ridiculous class, and perhaps the best SOS has had.

Yep all that matters is they played, not how they got there and they've played in one before, (i.e. not a fluke). I'm not one for moral victories, but Ugaly got one in the SECCG by playing well.

I think overall they've done pretty good. We had a lot of turnover on the staff last year. I think there is always room for improvement. If we finish with yannick, Rodgers and d Williams I'll be happy

This is what blows my mind about people who say they are glad we didn't go to the Championship game because they thought we would get crushed...

Tell me after watching the Championship that we would not have at least been as competitive as UGA was. Wins are great and all, but championships sell themselves.

Which pisses me off more than anything.. In the end, recruiting wise, it wouldn't have mattered had we won or lost... we blew them out and so far recruitingwise we have lost more than we gained over the season IIRC..

Yet TAMU now is bringing in major recruits like Seals Jones (yes, I know, Texas is a fertile ground).. just sucks they have one good year in the SEC and they are the new IT team.. we have been good/great (beating Bama like them) the past three years and are having more news for attrition than commits. Also, it certaibly looks like Jaquan Williams made a mistake now and got caught up in "Johnny Football" mania.. that's two big time physical WRs in the same class that are better than him now (Ricky and Griffin)

Exactly, we will never be a team like UF, LSU, Bama, Southern Cal, etc. where we will land huge recruits year in and year out. We are, however, fortunate that even though SC is a smaller state we seem to put out a plethora of talent.

What we have now in Spurrier is a coach who can do what the title says. He can 'coach' players maybe not as talented as some other teams and put us in competitive games.

If someone would have told me this year: Lattimore's knee will explode, Connor will get a fracture the first game of the year, and our top receiver will have 560 yards I would say we would be lucky to have a winning record. It ain't pretty and it isn't always won based on who is more talented, but it's working (kind of).
