I have a feeling Clowney will be playing all over the field. I know we have moved him around already but I expect a lot of it for this game.

Clowney has not played against better tackles this year.
(Although you can argue Richardson or Thomas from Tenn are better)

But I will say he will win this matchup, I will also agree with above he'll be in at a lot of positions.

I don't think Clowney beats him up, but he won't neutralize Clowney unless there is an SEC crew officiating. Clowney opens up a lot of opportunities with the need to double and chip. I'm guessing Byron will be healed and on a mission, Quarles will be close to full strength, and Taylor will affect if not sack. I wouldn't be surprised to see Shaq or Damario pressure a few times and maybe some spying on Robinson by Holloman. Giving the left tackle a lot to deal affects the whole offense. Watch them try to play into Clowney's space with screens, misdirection, and quick tosses. I would expect our linebacker play to be critical because their blocking schemes will be aimed at beating the OL. I wouldn't be surprised to see them initially trying the LSU tack, attacking with the run, but using Robinson on about half of the runs. Again, linebackers.

It's gonna be a very good battle...Richardson did a great job on JC, but Clowney was no where near 100% that day

Lewan got beat badly and routinely by Alabama. Although he currently plays left tackle, there is a lot of doubt whether he can play there in the pros because of a lack of athleticism. He's going to get exposed, IMO.

I am a bit confused, but that isn't uncommon. I agree JD will have a great game, but how is it that their fans have no faith in this guy, Lewan? He is an All American after all. I can only assume that the bar is set really, really high in Ann Arbor!

My guess is that we'll see Clowney moved all over the field to find some better matchups. Lewan is a beast, and he'll do as good a job against Clowney as anyone has done this year.

Thankfully, we've got a lot of defensive talent NOT named Clowney.

I think this will be a somewhat even battle during the first half. When the 3rd and 4th quarters roll around, JD will wear out Lewan with his supreme athletic ability/endurance.

I have no reason not to Pick JD in this battle yet. He's played some of the best OL's in the country and come out on top, and this dude hasnt faced a D-end in the country with the ability of JD. So until he proves me wrong...JD

Like I said earlier, he didn't fair well versus Alabama.

Clowney has a big advantage in the pass game, but Lewan has a big advantage in the run game, it'll be interesting to see how the coaches try to cover their weaknesses/use their strengths...

Yeahhhh its funny that people just look at his accolades and think he will be effective vs Clowney... There are many starting NFL left tackles that couldn't stop Clowney, Lewan doesn't have a chance.. I mean nobody in college football can be effective vs a healthy jd

Rest, as in the amount he will get before the bowl game, will get his foot back healthy.

Surgery in the offseason will make the problem go away permanently.

There is a problem with the arch in his foot that makes the muscles sore. Resting helps with the soreness. That's why he sat out the wofford game.

He also has bone spurs in his foot that he has been dealing with since high school. I believe they are gonna take care of that problem too.

I think this is the most accurate comment. The problem for Michigan is the other linemen do a crappy job of run blocking, thus Lewan may do a good job of run blocking on a play but a breakdown by another lineman allows some other defensive player to make the play, thus the play is not effective. I'm just hoping Lewan eats his Wheaties over the holiday.

I think this will be a close battle....but Quarles, Jerideau and Taylor should have a field day.
Lewan is good (not great) but the rest of the Michigan Oline is suspect.
If Clowney can call a double-team most of the day, look for quarles to have a big day.
