He is not just a great football player but a great Man. His spirit , his humbleness , his work ethic all had very positive effects on the team, coaches, fan and University. What Marcus gave us is goodness and the strength to keep moving forward no matter what. I've had guy's coming up to me today and last night saying ...I heard about Marcus leaving South Carolina you ok? That's the impact he had on us . Retire 21 for both on and off field positives.

If you retire the 21, you will kill some young kids dream of someday playing for the Gamecocks and wearing the same number that the GREAT Marcus Lattimore wore......
I wouldn't deprive any kid of that dream! I do hope however, that perhaps we could not use it again until the right player comes along....... I would love to see another High School All-American wear the #21!

I was sitting in lower west in section 2 on the front row when he scored his last touchdown as a Gamecock, right in front of me. Will never forget it.
Also I have good memories of watching him basically score at will against Troy. If they hadn't taken Marcus out of the game we may have scored 100 that day. |
