The most likely option to start the season is gonna be Prado in LF and Francisco at 3B. I wouldn't be completely opposed to it. According to Frank Wren via DOB, Juan has cut down some of the motion on his swing and some of his extra weight. He tore it up in winter league (not that he's ever particularly struggled with it, though). I wouldn't mind seeing what he could do in a consistent starting role. He was highly thought of in the Reds organization but was blocked by others. Defensively, he's not that bad and offensively he has ridiculous power. Then we can see how the change in his swing changes his Ks. And to be honest, is letting Juan try out really that much worse than signing/trading for an average LF?

I'm not against the Fat Juan plan because he's obviously working hard and improving. He has the potential to be a 30+ HR guy. He just needs more ABs against big league arms. But the one problem is who leads off?

Prado or Simmons could always lead off. Juan is better than most of the crap that is left. Especially at the price. Remember, he was a top prospect for the Reds at one point, so maybe he's a late bloomer.

Well what pisses me off is that they seem to be against Prado at leadoff. Do you remember how awesome he was at leadoff and how well that offense was with him there in 2010?

At that time they wanted more speed. Now we have Upton and Heyward so that need is taken care of.

My %%%%ing ass we did.. Drew Stubbs was the centerpiece? Give me a break... This trade killed us- we lost out on Choo and Upton, and the Reds are much stronger as a result.

What's the point of getting Upton and paying that much if we aren't even going to have a better team than last year? Especially with the Dodgers getting amazing and the Nats better too

There was just no way we could match the return that they got in Bauer and Stubbs. Thats 2 really good players that are MLB ready. Stubbs is really good and we as Carolina fans know Bauer's potential from watching him in Omaha.

Hamilton just got 5 years 125 million from the Angels. Yeah there was no way we could have even sniffed that. Funny thing is that Bourn and Swisher are still just chilling with no team. Don't even think about it, Frank

Trout, Trumbo, Pujols, and now Hamilton. That Angels lineup is going to be nasty.


Wonder if the Rangers make a play for Bourn with Hamilton gone?

Mark Trumbo would be a great player in Atlanta. Chipper said last year at the Home Run Derby that he's one of the best power hitters in the game. He's not the best fielder but he would provide tremendous power to the lineup. If Wren can get him without giving up a ton then I'm all for it.
His only problem is consistency.
