Tyler Webb Named To NCBWA Preseason All-America Team
South Carolina senior left-handed pitcher Tyler Webb has earned Preseason All-America honors as announced by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Webb received second-team honors from the NCBWA. South Carolina opens the 2013 season on Friday, Feb. 15 hosting a three-game series with Liberty at Carolina Stadium.
In 2012, Webb made 39 appearances, second highest in a single season in school history with an impressive 6-1 record, a miniscule 1.56 ERA, as well as three saves with 58 strikeouts in 57 2/3 innings pitched. Opponents hit just .211 against him. 30 times in 39 appearances, the opponent failed to score a run against him. For some reason, Webb's contributions to the team are not foremost in my mind. I guess that Roth, Price, and the others sort of overshadowed him.
Note - This is not a problem with Webb or how he was used. It's mine. I'll try to do better.

He was what John Tatlor was in 2011. We can talk about how amazing Price was but without Taylor and Webb, we go nowhere. How many times did those 2 save our skins when either Koumas, Westmoreland, or Holmes couldn't get out of the 5th inning? Amazing.
