Prayers for my mom please...

She has been in bed since Wednesday afternoon with a very very bad case of some sort of influenza. The doctor prescribed an antibiotic and she's been taking it since Wed. afternoon, she takes 1 twice a day. She has to take other medication as well.

I've been with her and making sure she's taking her medication, drinking fluids, etc...

I've really been worried because it's just not getting any better right now, if she's the same by Monday I'm taking her to the doctor, you would think the antibiotic would be kicking in by now.

Everyone please say a prayer that she will start to get better soon. Thank you all so much!

Hope, my mom just turned 88 this week and she has been battling this for the last 10 days. She did not see to improve at all for the first week. The last few days she has been doing much better though. I hope that your mom recovers as quickly!

Sorry to hear about your mom CL. I know how you feel. My cousin has been in ICU since Monday on cooling blankets and a ventilator. It hit him really hard and fast and he's not out of the woods yet. Take care of yourselves people.

Please call her doctor tomorrow and tell him/her she is not getting better, do not wait till Monday. Similar problem happened to my father a few years ago. They found out he had pneumonia and blood clots and had to stay in the hospital for around 10 days. She may have something worse than flu and may need to be hospitalized immediately.

I'm with the others on taking her to the ER if she's not better by Sunday. At least you'll get help quicker than having to wait until Monday then having to get an appt. with the doctor. I sure will keep you guys in my thoughts & prayers.

You got it Hope. A good friend of mine had the flu and it developed into pneumonia and put her in the hospital for 4 days. So please keep a close eye on your mom.

She's doing a little better this morning...she was up brushing her hair, cleaning her face. Also, sat in a chair and paid a few bills BUT got back in the bed because she felt so weak of course. Her back is hurting and she's just hurting all over...she continues to take the antibiotic. I know it's a slow process...we'll see what happens and I may be taking her before Monday. thank you all so much for your comments and prayers.

Gatorade or G2 if she is not diabetic. Glad that your mom is feeling better.

I'm glad to hear that she at least got up out of bed. That's a good sign. Her being weak is expected of course. Can she take Advil? That will help with the body aches and Tylenol will help with the fever.

Dehydration is a big problem for older people as they can't consume enough liquids. Also, older females will often get urinary tract infections that also lead to other problems. Glad she is doing better, but I would much rather error using caution.
