If SOS did not announce that Dylan Thompson would play, would Michigan only prepare for Connor Shaw?

Because if that happened, wouldn't that be advantageous to South Carolina?

Because then Michigan would be all like, "Oh Shit, who is this guy? We did not prepare for him? What can we do now but continue to play the defense that we installed over the last month that was read-option heavy and put less focus on long passes?"


If anything, I would want Michigan to prepare for only one QB and Miles and Davis and be shocked when we roll out Dylan and Carson.

Now with the above being said, let me say that I know Michigan would do there homework and prepare for Connor Shaw and Dylan Thompson.

If Spurrier really wanted to jangle their chain, he would have announced that Seth Strickland would start and play most of the game.

Yep and hopefully make Shaw step his game up more. He has done great things but there is still room for improvement. Like not just taking off and running at the slightest pressure. He stands in there good sometimes but takes off too early at times too.

We will run a 2 QB system next year and we will use the bowl game to get the offense ready for that in game action.

One thing I really like about Dylan is he drops back and fires the ball. Most of the time with minimal hesitation. Conner sometimes holds on to long looking for the perfect pass.

But... I am fine with what Spurrier has decided. Make Michigan prepare for both and maybe one of them will have an advantage for next spring/summer when we have the yearly debate of who the QB will be.

So why not use both of them and exploit their strengths.

Spurrier's comments were interesting. They echo what one of the Michigan fan said about the Michigan pass defense, which is nationally ranked at number 2. The fan said that number was a fraud.

Spurrier said that they seemed like a tough team to run against, and he made a remark about hoping you could hit a couple balls on them. To me, that hints that he would like to open up the offense some.

IMO, we tend to be more of a running team with Shaw, including the option running game at times.

With DT, Spurrier likes to light it up a bit more.

So true... I have heard coaches say in the past... when you prepare for two styles... the scout team throws everything at a defense.... so nothing completely sticks with your starting D... It can be confusing... I like the scenario....
