17 year old arrested for guns on school campus

didnt see this posted but a kid at my old high school in Easley was arrested on Monday when they found this in his car

he says it was b/c he forgot to clean his car out after hunting but whats up with the hand cuffs and taser....ive never hunt before so maybe i just dont know but those dont seem to fit

Depends on what you are hunting. Deer are usually pretty cooperative.. but racoons, squirrels, and beaver can be very unruly, by nature, so tasers and handcuffs often come in handy when hunting those

I read somewhere that he may have been hunting wild hogs. The taser could be for those, as you know they are MEAN, especially if the first shot does not kill it.

But yes, that does seem like a bit much for hunting. I've been around hunters all my life, and they NEVER kept that much in their car when they went out.

I had a friend in High School that had a Pontiac Fiero. He had rigged up his car with all matter of weapons. He never used any of them on anyone, he just thought it was cool to have all the stuff. Now in this Fiero he had

1. Shotgun
2. 2 hand Guns
3. A dozen or so knives
4. Chinese Throwing Stars
5. Nun-Chucks
6. Mace (Tazers were not available at the time)
7. Ammunition

Now just imagine all of this in a freaking Fiero



Now I say this for two reasons-

1. Back when I was in High School no one would worry if a kid parked on campus with a hunting rifle in his truck

2. Kids are idiots- Had my friend been pulled by the cops, it would have been ugly.

When I was in high school we had guns in the gun rack hung in the back window. I even took my shotgun inside to put in my locker during the day if I was going hunting with a buddy after school. My, how times change.

Doesn't matter if you support the 2nd Amendment or not. Anybody who
goes onto a school campus with That kind of load at this time needs to
do some time in a cell, as do the parents and/or anyone who supplied him
with this stuff. It's time to start making examples of people who have no
common sense, or people who intend to use stuff like this at some point
and simply got caught and lied about it before they had a chance to
use it. ...... I wouldn't try to decide which was correct. If a person is
anywhere near a school, place of business, church, or even a residence
other than where he lives, this should be considered grounds for doing serious
time.

Those look to be a bunch of low brass shells. Probably bird/squirrel hunting or shooting clays, definitely not shooting hogs with those. Something similar happened at my high school. Very nice kid and everyone liked him. He forgot to clean out his car after hunting and they found a hunting rifle (I don't know guns so I don't know exactly what it was) but he got expelled. I think he was a junior at the time.

I know someone who when in elementary school was expelled b/c she went camping with her family over the weekend, and when she got to school that Monday, discovered her pocket knife in her coat (it was a very small one that was easily "lost" in a pocket), did the right thing and took it to the teacher immediately to hold until her dad could come pick it up (who is Columbia PD btw). Yes, she was expelled under the so-called "zero tolerance" policy for doing the right thing.

In fairness... there is only one gun there. And that he may have forgotten about it (looks like a .22 revolver lots of folks keep in the car to finish off an animal they may have hit) is understandable but a stretch. Still, a dumb move...

The rifle was probably in a case by itsself and the other stuff was in a bag. I have a range bag that has all kinds of stuff in it. When I get home from shooting I go clean the rifles and forget the bag. Pretty frequently as I get older...
