Clowney took his Clemson visit for ESPN TV hype. He was ours to lose from the beginning. He went to Bama visiting with Brandon Shell who chose us, too. Brandon had already committed to USC at that time.

There was never a Consideration by Clowney to go to Clemson. That was
only brought up AFTER he announced he was going to wait until Feb 14th
to announce and do so on ESPNs coverage of some HS event. ... He

it was all at the Request of ESPN to build up to that show they were doing
and his adding Clemson to the list of school he had previously listed was
just for show. He and his mom visited Clemson, and his mom came out and

were never in the running. To this day when they talk about Clowney
they still bring up the fact that they were close to signing him, because

made the statement that she wanted her son to go there, nor did she
indicate at any time she would like to see Jadeveon Play at Clemson.
AND... there was never a statement by JD himself in support of what
his mom said. He was a Gamecock since his freshman year in HS.

With Clowney, there was no argument. Many experts said he was the best player in 20 years. A few said he was the best football player they had ever seen. Period.

Spot on, Legalman. Like you, I won't demean Clowney's demonstrated results at the highest level of college football by comparing him to the hype and hope surrounding a good-but unproven-high school recruit.

In my book, it wouldn't be much different than comparing Price or Roth to a Little League pitcher. What's the point? Why waste my time? LOL.

One has already proved himself and one is still dreaming about what it will be like to play in college. It's an insult to Clowney to compare anyone in this class to him.

I watched Jr and senior highlights of both players. Nkemdiche's highlights look really good. Clowney's are "shake your head" unbelievable. Watching both, I believe 3/4ths of Nkemdiche's wouldn't have made Clowney's tape. They are certainly different style players. The high school recruiting services rated Clowney higher than any player in a ten-year span, and I think they were correct. Nkemdiche will probably start as a freshman, but if he gets Heisman votes his second year, I will be surprised.

Lets see what Nkemdiche does against SEC level talent before we make any comparisons to Clowney. When he leads the nation in sacks, in the best league in the nation, then we can talk. If he does go to Clem that will never be an argument with any validity.

I hate to disagree with you, Spurticus, but clemtech fans will tell you that the only reason that Clowney didn't go to clemtech is because he couldn't meet their high academic standards. It's not true, but that's what they believe.
