The first thing I thought about was pricing, I guess I don't remember them being so expensive because I didn't pay for them back then, haha.

What's REALLY interesting is that adjusted for inflation, the consoles are about the same price, but the top tier games were actually more expensive... yet games today take a lot more money to produce, all the way from programming to voice acting.... That must be a tough industry.

Yeah. Now they just shaft you with downloadable content. At least back then when you payed 60 bucks the game was complete.

Ah, the original playstation. Got one when I turned 7. It lasted 3 whole weeks before I got very mad over something and threw it out the window and destroyed it.

Oh the repercussions that followed.

The cartridge games always would cost more because they essentially had a computer chip inside of each one of them. The console was basically a PC without the CPU and each cartridge had a CPU inside of it so it was hella expensive to make at that time.

One of my Fav's of all time was Baseball Stars for the Nintendo. I wasted a good part of my youth playing that game

The consoles did have CPUs. The cartridges contained the data on chips. There was not a complete CPU on each cartidge. Though they were considerably more expensive to manufacture then CD's

It depended on what game you were talking about. Allot of N64 games had graphics coprocessors inside the actual cartridges. Saying it was a insert-able CPU was probably a bad analogy
