I thought this was an interesting article about a new football helmet design. Dr. Dean Sicking, who engineered the SAFER barriers now used at every major racetrack, is now looking for a way to implement the same impact reducing concept into a football helmet.

The research and technology that has gone into developing safer helmets has been remarkable over the last decade or so. However, anything short of developing a surgery/procedure to fully stabilize the brain and there will always be the risk of concussion, even with the better helmets.
