Knee injuries happen to every team in most sports. If it were up to coaches then NOBODY on any team would have them!

What you more realistically could see is Kelvin Rainey switching over. Also could see Marcquis Roberts and possibly Kyle Fleetwood get a look there. I would imagine that Bryant, Johnson, and Turner are all going to get a stronger look in the Fall whether they are ready or not.

I have heard they have already convince Rainey to start next spring as a LB. Also some of the young folks who were signed to be spurs (which is basically a weak side LB) have gained enough strength to move to LB. The coaches aren't as worried as folks on this board.

Well they should be worried. At this rate there will be 10 more knee injuries come time for the first game of 2013.

kelvin rainey was a guy many schools recruited at linebacker and most believe his ceiling was higher there. so if the need were present to change position i would think his name would be one of the first ones mentioned.

If this is accurate that would be great. He would be a helluva LB imo. He likes contact.

With Rainey's frame, speed, and explosiveness (he jumps like 36"), he might be a top-notch linebacker. If he looks at the recent NFL drafts and sees the number of TE's drafted vs the number of linebackers, especially of his size and speed, he wants to be thrown into that brierpatch. If he likes to be the hitter rather than the hittee, it might be a good fit. Don't forget Lewis and incoming Turner at MLB. I worry more at spur than linebacker.

A shame about Cedrick....hopefully the injury is not too severe. Bowl practice is mostly like another spring camp: it's mostly for the younger players who weren't part of the previous season's 2-deep, to get some one-on-one attention and teaching from the positions coaches and work on their techniques and fundamentals. The Bowl practices would've been great to help Cooper prepare for next season, especially along with spring camp added to it. Now it looks like he will miss the rest of bowl camp: hopefully he doesn't miss spring camp as well...

I think we're pretty solid at spur with diggs and golightly barring injury.

Lb is the area that we can least afford an injury especially to a guy like Cooper who the coaches were so excited about and basically penciled in as a starter.

Rainey was rumored to be moving to lb even before this injury. The depth is thin and there is basically zero experience returning at lb. Better hope this is just a sprain.

I hate to think that 3 of our most promising new faces on defense could all be battling back from major knee injuries. McWilliams, Gurley, and now Cooper. Hopefully Cooper's isn't too serious and the others can make a full recovery. I am excited about seeing these guys play some ball

That's a shame. With regard to Rolin, seriously, if we were going to be counting on him as a true frosh for depth next season, in this conference, we were already in trouble.
