I pass them sitting in traffic these days. Will admit they have made me cry before though. Pro tip DO NOT ASK FOR DEMEROL OR MORPHINE in the emergency room. They will treat you like a junkie and give you some tylenol

Ever since I was told about the pain and horror of kidney stones...I've avoided sodas 99% of the time. Water has been my beverage of choice for a long time, with a bit of citrus juice in the morning most mornings.

Gotta flush those kidneys out to make sure this doesnt happen.

Tea is just as bad.......oxalate is the culprit.

I drank A TON of milk and tea in my teen years which is a bad combination......excess of calcium with oxalate floating around to glue it together.

Yea I should have mentioned tea as well. I rarely ever drink tea anymore.

There are 4 basic kinds of stones. Diets vary for each. Some studies have shown a reduction in stone formation in green tea drinkers.

Actually just looked it up and it makes sense since it is a alpha-adrenergic blocker.

In addition to opening up and decreasing resistance in the urinary system it also does it in the vascular system. Same amount of blood, bigger container.....body can't vasocontrict to increase blood pressure/ maintain blood supply so the hearts beat faster to try to make up the difference.

Ultrasonic therapy to break the stone up is what they did with my brother. I've never had one, but my wife has. They gave her some kind of pain med that was like an inhalant/mist. No idea what that was.

I've had a few. About the time when I thought I couldn't stand the pain any more, they passed. A cold tile bathroom floor seemed to help ease the pain as well as meds. Good luck with them. Switched to mostly water and lots of it daily and I haven't had one in several years now.
