Just wondering who is left on our board? Any shot that we can reel someone in that might not have been there a month ago?

If people agree and are satisfied with this, then it would be nice not to hear people bitch so often. Personally, I expect a top 15 team yearly. Yeah we have a small state but it's talent rich per capita. Also, being in as close proximity to GA, FL, and NC as we are, makes it a lesser issue. Sure schools might have an inside track to their instate prospects but these days it isn't nearly as big of a deal and considering all of our neighboors have multiple D1 schools, it's not nearly as big of an advantage as say Louisiana. |

Keith Bryant- DT- FSU lean
Yannick Ngakoue-MLB- Many believe it is a Maryland, South Carolina battle. Na'ty Rodgers-OT- SC lead Deandre Senat-DT- Recently decommited from FSU, mutual interest, will see how it goes. David Williams-HB- SC lead Anyone else really outside of those 5? Last edited by lilhornet; 12-20-2012 at 05:56 PM. |

I would love to steal that MLB from Maryland. That would be huge for this class. Will we get a visit? When does he announce?

248 all purpose yards for N.C. in a losing effort in the Shrine Bowl. I know it's an all-star game but he might not be that much of a project.

The tough thing is, with recruiting the way it is, we can have a class every year that ranks top 15 nationally, yet ranks us only 7 or 8 in the SEC.
We need to get our fair share of the SC/GA/Fla top rated guys every year, pick up a few "under the radar"guys, get lucky on a highly regarded stud or two, and avoid injuries as much as possible every year. And that's just to stay compeititive in the SEC East. |

To close with Williams and Rogers would be top choice. Add Ngakoue for a really good finish. I expect a DT and a corner or safety to finish it out. A great surprise would be nice, but we seldom get one. Our recruiters deal above board, as they should.

He'd said since he initially committed that he'd take all 5 OV's so it is what it is. Whenever a recruit visits somewhere else and gets the red carpet treatment, there's always a chance they turn. |

While I will admit that it is great to get the 5 star or 4 star recruits to commit to your program, you never know how these kids are going to adjust once they hit the college level practice field and reality sets in on them. Granted there are a few that get it early, but for the most part it takes a couple of years for this to sink in on the rest of them. Also, 4 star - 5 star rating, this can be adjusted by the recruiting websites to pump up some of these kids like Coach Brad Lawing has repeated several times in the past. I think that we should try to get the best players in the areas that we recruit in and also get the kids with the best attitudes (grades, character, and how they practice). I think this is where having a great bunch of recruiters that have excellent relationships with the high school coaches in their respective areas of assignments comes in to play in a huge capacity. We are getting stronger in the SEC and kids and high coaches are starting to see USC for being a Top Notch College Program now. We just need to keep it up and continue to build on the success that we have had the past few years and hopefully we will stay up in the top tier of the SEC each year.

C2 is correct. I read and hear many who unfairly criticize the new members of our staff. It takes time to cultivate the relationships needed in recruiting and our new guys just haven't had a chance yet. Given the limitations of the size of our state and the academic issues many of them have, we will never have a chance to recruit consistently on par with the elite of the SEC. Our staff has a formula which includes a heavy emphasis on evaluation of prospects. Make no mistake, 2014 is a huge year for us to make hay in-state and bring in more elite prospects than we have in 2012 and 13. That class along with 2015 will give us a chance to sustain the on field success of 2011 and 2012.

When Tennessee was winning the SEC and a NC they were recruiting with the best of the best and they never have strong in state talent

Do we still have a chance for Taj Williams? I know we weren't going after receivers that hard this year, but he would certainly be a good fit, being how we could use a tall receiver since DL is gone now.
