Check Walmart.com. They have some refurbished ones for really cheap if you want to go that route. Depends on what you are going to do with it I guess.

No gaming or anything, my wife just likes to sit at a desk top to work. She is not very computer savvy, so still likes the good o'l desk tops.

Nothing cheaper than buying parts from newegg.com and tigerdirect.com and putting it together. Only takes about an hour, tops.

I would think if OP had the money to spend to buy a mac they wouldn't have asked specifically for a "cheap" desk top.

Maybe I should have elaborated a little more. Going the cheap route is not the best decision in buying a computer. Saving up and buying a Macintosh would be the best possible thing to do. Yes, there are plenty of Windows computers out there that have the same, if not better, specs as far as RAM and memory are concerned. However, the bottom line is that any Windows operating system is not even remotely comparable to Mac OSX. Also, the workmanship and quality of any Apple product are far superior to any product out there, technology based or not. The commitment to excellence Apple makes to manufacture amazing products show in everything they do.
