I don't know about that. On the one hand it would be nice to lock em in, on the other I don't like the idea of guys like Dabo hard pressuring these kids into signing early the way they do with verbal commitments.

If you think these kids and familes have little privacy and quiet now, soon you'll have coaches all but moving in with some of them. Bad idea. Need less contact and only very specific times contact can be made, by either party.

The more contact, the more likely illegal benefits will flow.

I always thought that coaches should have less contact, not more. Especially before a kid's senior year. The practice of offering every kid a scholarship after his freshman year is BS. There should be no contact and no offers until after a kid's junior year of HS. There should be no camp invites. If the kid wants to go to attend a camp let his parents send him or let him work and save the money. The schools invite a kid to camp and overwhelm him with BS and then pressure him to commit.

I agree with this. You now have schools offering kids in MIDDLE SCHOOL on occasion. Recruiting has gotten out of hand and it's getting to the point where someone has to say enough is enough, and it will have to be the NCAA.

Not a good idea in my opinion. There is no point in trying to trap a kid into somewhere they want to be a full year before their first game. Who wins in that situation? The recruits should allowed to change their mind until they sign in February. I know some people don't like recruits changing their minds late, but it's best for everyone to just get over it.

Golson and Gamecocks talking again.

USC is looking for another linebacker to add to the 2013 class, and because there is an immediate need, a junior college player would fit the bill. The Gamecocks missed on Tommy Sanders last week when he signed with Texas A&M. One new possibility is former USC commitment Brandon Golson of Calhoun County and Georgia Military JC. Golson has been committed to Arizona since October, but he talked with USC coaches last Friday according to his high school coach Walt Wilson. “He’s always wanted to play at Carolina,” Wilson said. “He found out they lost two linebackers and I contacted coach Spurrier Jr. to get the ball rolling.
