i couldnt put it past either one of them. If our o line holds up on the blocks. and lil lane and both backs can squeeze through and turn it into a homerun. you may not believe it but both have tremendous power and i know for a fact Carson is a lil hulk waiting to explode. this guy is a monster and will prove it. We have seen what davis can do and i for one am impressed on his running ability but he does need to learn to block. I am sure Carson will have some issue with this as well since he only had 3 carries in his career. I expect to see some quick swings to carson or a both back set with them both.

Both these guys have some of the quickest feet i've seen from a Gamecock runningback in a long time. Saw Carson make some real eye-opening plays in fall practice leading up to his injury. Looking forward to seeing what he can do.

Did you watch Alabama at all this year? Their backs are an incredible blend of size, speed, and power. I'm not trying to take anything away from Davis or Carson but Lacy and Yeldon are special backs and there is a reason they are at Alabama, who is a running back powerhouse as of late.

in sanders interview a few days back, he said that not only was carson scheduled to play, but that he was actually depending on carson. i believe that statement might be exactly what this thread is all about. i still think miles will play, but not as much as we would have expected.

Everyone always stresses the need for our RB's to be able to block well, including the coaches. I've agreed up until now. While it is still obviously important, I don't think it's really that big of a deal in the type of offense we're transitioning into. With Davis, Carson, Wilds, and no apparent fullback, it appears as if we won't run many plays in the traditional 2 back set. And I doubt the we will do much play action that will require the RB to block.

I think we will use a lot of swing routes to get them into space and other designed pass plays, including screens, that will in a sense, put us in a "5 wide" set. We might have 2 Wr's 2 TE's and 1 RB but all will be running routes and the RB's will only be needed for a chip on a DE or LB.

If Shaw starts next year, I would really like to see us line up in a 2 TE, split back shotgun formation. Florida did a bunch of this with Tebow and even though Shaw isn't the power runner that Tebow was, I think this formation could cause a ton of opportunities and toss a variable into our opponents game planning.

I have seen about three or four plays in every South Carolina game where a tailback that was in the backfield on a passing play was able to slow down a lb or de that otherwise would not have been blocked.

I have also seen what can happen to the qb when the rb totally whiffs on a block he was expected to make.

RB blocking is a very important part of our offense. It's stressed because it's needed. Davis is very young, so he's still learning the blocking schemes, and Carson's never played. I can remember one block in particular that Davis missed against Clemson that resulted in a sack. I doubt we'll change much of our offense if Kenny can't go, but it'll limit some of what we can do.

Absolutely no given that Carson makes our Baseball squad. Has a shot but I would say it's far from a lock.
