![]() Spot on. Never understood the people who rave about Dukes. Interesting read on the Interstate vs Rendezvous comparison. I've always enjoyed both of them about the same. I do like to pick up some of the dry rub to take back home from Rendezvous. Both are pretty good. If you haven't tryed them, hit up Corky's the next time in Memphis.

![]() Do you come up to Tryon a lot? I live in this county. Have you ever attended the Blue Ridge BBQ Festival in Tryon in June?

![]() I used to go to Tryon (Columbus, Polk, and Landrum) a good bit. So I know the area pretty well. We only go now when we go to Side Street. I used to date someone up in that area.

![]() We were going to go to the festival this year, but it was right when or right after I had my accident and I wasn't able to go. We'll probably be there this year.

![]() Looking at it now. With it being mid-June then it was right when I had my surgery, so yeah couldn't have made that.
This year it's June 14-15, so we will all but be there. Holler before and we'll definitely get together. |

![]() If you lke Groucho's you will like Kicken Chicken down in Charleston even more. Better sauce, bread, and ingredients.

![]() Who hasn't pigged out on an STP at Groucho's in 5-Points? Right of Carolina passage there.
Dukes? They aren't a chain. I have eaten in one that was quite pedestrian. The one in Walterboro was decent however and I enjoy stopping in there on my way back to cure BBQ withdrawal. Still not as good as Little Pig though. I hit Giovanni the last time I was up for a grits festival. Amazing! Nice female companionship too that night. :) Y u no go Bowens island when at Folly? When I lived at Folly back in the 70's it was one of my favorite haunts. http://www.bowensislandrestaurant.com/

Cack, I have never eaten at any of the places that you have listed here in Charleston, SC, even though I consider it my 2nd home now as I have been there so many times in the last ten years. Dukes Bar-B-Que to me is the "pits" as I use to travel all over SC and GA and I never found one that was really outstanding and most of them were just plain awful to someone who appreciates good Que. I enjoyed your posting on the Memphis Bar-B-Que Championship Trip. My wife and me have said for years that we would like to go and visit during that week, but I coach Little League Baseball and we are usually just getting into high gear about that time. Maybe one day I will make it. Did you get a chance to eat any of the "Champions Bar-B-Que" during your week in Memphis? If so, was it that much different from what we get here. I am a pretty good cook on the grill and when I take my time I can cook up some good "Que", so it takes something very good to get my taste buds jumping. I will try to keep pulling up your post on cooking and where you eat as I really enjoy what you write. Thanks, Dream Machine |

We were originally going to go to Sweatman's, but I've heard horror stories about them the past year or so. MIM is AMAZING!!!!! I'm not sure what Champions BBQ is, so I'll have to say no. That is where I first had an ABT which is a must have every time I do a big cook now. Thanks for the kind words as well. |

![]() I was wondering if you were allowed to eat any Bar-B-Que from the people who were competing in the Championship Cook-Offs? Pit Masters like Johnny Triggs or The Master Money Winner? Since I have always wanted to go and see this grand event I did not know if the people who were competing actually sold any of their good Que?
Have you entered any Bar-B-Que Contest down around Aiken County or parts near there yet? If so, let me know and I will try to get out and sample some of your good eats. |

![]() Ah ok. That's what I THOUGHT you meant, but wasn't sure.
They used to allow people to eat the cooks food and called it the "People's Choice Award", but I heard they had to cancel that due to the food people. Said that there was no way for them to regulate it. |

![]() Every BBQ competition down here still has a people's choice award, at least through last winter's. Many of them have moved to using food trucks now though. They are all licensed.
