The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Richard came into the camp with offers from Vanderbilt and NC State, and he certainly looked the part of an early-offer prospect. The nephew of former Georgia Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker was quick off the line of scrimmage, and he made a pair of difficult receptions look relatively easy. He has the frame to carry more than 250 pound down the line.

He has very, very strong family ties (Mother, Father, Uncle were All-Americans at UGA and his uncle is the biggest legend in the history of the program) but he is keeping things open. If UGA happens to get Jeb Blazevich before Richard decides to commit, I could see him ending up elsewhere. He is a superb athlete with some of the best genes one could ask for.

One of the state’s top 2014 prospects is Milan Richard, a 6-foot-2, 223-pound tight end from Savannah’s Calvary Day high school. He’s the nephew of UGA legend Herschel Walker, and both of his parents ran track for the Bulldogs. Have the athletic genes passed on to Richard? “Yes, he’s an impressive-looking kid who is able to run very well,” Calvary Day coach Mark Stroud said. “When a kid that size can the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds at the combine, you’ve got to find a place for him at the next level. His parents have done a good job training him, and you can definitely tell some of that gene pool is showing up now.” Richard has nine early offers, including both UGA and Georgia Tech.

Junior TE Milan Richard of Savannah adds Clemson to his offer sheet Thursday. The Tigers join USC, Georgia, NC State, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, UCLA and Louisiana-Lafayette with offers for Richard. "It's really exciting," said Richard. "When a school thinks that you're good enough to play for them, it's great." Richard visited Clemson last Saturday for the Battle of the Palmetto State. "I got a chance to get a feel for their coaches and their atmosphere," he said. "I like them a lot. They're a family-based school. They told me they have three or four players that graduated and later came back to coach. I like that." The Gamecocks have already offered the Georgia product and he named Clemson and USC as schools of interest. "I haven't narrowed my list yet because every time I try to do so, someone else starts showing interest," Richard said. He is playing basketball now that his season ends and will in a rising senior bowl in Atlanta later this month. Richard plans to visit Clemson in January.

According to Richard, a four-star prospect with double-digit offers (most recently Tennessee), he feels no family pressure to follow in their footsteps. He's going to pick a school that is the best fit for him, he said.

The 6-feet-2, 232-pounder looks like the type of tight end that can stretch the field. Richard gets off the ball quickly, runs solid routes, and makes a quick football move after securing the catch. More than once, he showed good agility either bending low to make a catch or reaching high.

Class of 2014 tight end Milan Richard of Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Day School checked in at 6-foot-2.5, 229-pounds. He ran a 4.75 forty-yard dash, 4.65 pro-agility shuttle and leaped 32.5-inches. While Richard showed soft hands and the ability to run routes down the field, he struggles in change of direction and rounded off a number of routes.
